Being poor in the US is a mainly a choice.

Right. Economic inequality, class exploitation, and unemployment created by outsourcing/de-industrialization is just a figment of people's imagination.

There's more than industry jobs.

Be an entrepreneur, everyone can be one. There's a lot of different ways to make money than going to a factory and doing your 9-5.

Get a damn job

Because there is no such thing as poor people that actually work.

Good thing we have people like you that donate to Welfare programs.

Donate? No.

But I do work faithfully and I do help support our current welfare programs with my tax dollars.

You ever been on welfare?

Sure have. I was on Medicaid and WIC throughout my pregnancy and I received food stamps for the first year after I had my baby. Once I found a job I no longer qualified and haven't been on any type of government assistance since then.

Now go ahead with your next point, cause I already know it's coming.

I'm glad you found some sort of assistance during your time of need. There was no follow up.

I'm glad too, because that already difficult time would've been impossible without it.

Maybe I just get how your life can go from middle class to poverty level with just a couple life occurrences.

Thank god that help allowed me to maintain until I was able to get back to work.

None of us are above being in poverty...you never fucking know what might go down in the course of your life.

From an unplanned pregnancy to a life altering accident..it could happen to you too, so count your blessings and try not to be so hard on the next man.

I keep applications from various places in my glovebox and everytime I run across a bum with a sign at the corner I roll by window and act like I'm whippin' out a buck and whip out an application and they mad. fuckin' bums I hate em.

so they still take paper applications instead of doing it on the net or at a kiosk? wheredeydodatat?

Concerning the poor, I have a problem with corporations like Walmart or any large corporation that does all it can to cheat its workforce out of livable wages while at the same time benefiting from millions in bonuses.

I don't believe those working people should be poor. Especially when those type of jobs are the only ones available to those people. So finding a better job is just as absurd as saying if you don't want to be poor just be rich.

Now if they got reasonable wages and benefits and still mismanaged their money then they have no one to blame but themselves.

Don't know it it's true but if the top richest could end poverty its probably because of reasons like wage disparity in companies with those types of business practices.

I could be wrong but that is how I see things.

maybe not all....but do u think none of them are bums by choice?

cuz theres a difference between saying "if i had a choice" or "if it was up to me", and actually putting yourself in a position to have options.

just like somebody who been working an entry level position for yrs without advancing. if u getting nowhere after so much time maybe its u who's the problem. either way there comes a time when u have to take a look at why u arent where u wanna be and adjust accordingly.

unless im missing something

I hate the whole "deserve" thing. Life isnt about being entitled to certain things...it is all cause and effect over and over again.

So poor people are poor because of poor decisions.

But you dont have to be poor forever.

This is my last comment because I don't really want to go on forever with this shit (and I could) but even IF people fuck up and become addicts or unwed mothers etc they are STILL NO DIFFERENT THAN ANYONE ELSE.

DMX is a millionaire crackhead (he's not the only one either), how many broke penniless crackheads are there? There's more than enough of both to say that life takes different people to different places.

Sarah Palin's daughter gets pregnant as a teenager its all good she's got a millionaire mommy, Ta'Nia up the block gets pregnant as a teenager and could end up in poverty for the next 18-20yrs. Same shit different consequences.

Consequences don't apply equally, people live their lives and unforeseen shit happens that shackles them to poverty or sends them into poverty. Its life, nobody is perfect and there's no perfect person. We all do the same shit but how it affects our lives differ greatly.

For every person that opened a business and made money there's someone who opened a business and ended up having to close it, its life.

There's no magic pill to becoming rich.
