Do you think hip hop radio for mature audiences would work?

Most old regular niggas don't continue to listen to their favorite rappers from back in the day though...They grow the fuck up...

Won't happen b/c the big money radio station owners wont' let it. and they already have the market cornered when it comes to advertising money which basically runs radio.

Not true whenever old school rappers like naughty by nature have a show their fans come out to support.

Maybe if emmis or clear channel decide to create such a station. That way things can stay in-house.

These guys still drop albums and go on tours globally once in a while

If you're a true fan, it aint hard getting access to artistes not promoted by the machine

Seek and ye shall find ...

Yeah it would work and if the platform was present I think you would get new artist that could be marketed to an older crowd.

I said most...You think Treach and Vinny still performin in front the same audience as they was in the '90s?...They might be eatin off tours still, but that shit phases out...Regular people who used to be fanatics grow up and have bigger shit to deal with and care about than music...That's across all genres, with very rare exceptions...

there's an age limit to no longer listening to hip-hop?

Lol just because you grow up it don't mean the rappers you liked at age 23 since won't be the rappers you like 20 years after.

Nah not at all you ever heard of Kiss army

@rip.dilla this format would make things easier for certain artists. Acts like kaanan, skillz, phonte etc would have a outlet to be heard.

Nope, that's not what I'm sayin...I'm sayin that most niggas Jay-Z age aren't buyin Jay-Z albums...They're payin car insurance for their kids, mortgages, etc...Them niggas do not care that much about what is goin on in the music industry to want their own radio station strictly for "mature audiences"...They gon listen to whatever is on when they in the car goin from point a to point b...So a station like that prolly wouldn't do well ratings wise, and therefore there is no good money to be made in it..

Radio outlets like that would have to be promoted by someone or by bodies who are very enthusiastic about HipHop culture and independent acts

Someone willing to put 'unpopular' music out there at a considerable loss related to costs and sponsorship deals

nobody is listening to a station with skillz and phonte yall living in fantasy world if you think this shit would be profitable. clear channel would have been hopped on this shit if they thought it would be profitable.

most of them older rock groups got it like that but in hip hop you can't be old , Fleetwood Mac,Judist Priest etc if you had a big

enough following and had a lot songs you good like the tribe called quest doc is the perfect example of what can be done with a

older group they was getting show offers even tho they haven't been active in ages. This goes back to the they really just trying to

brainwash the masses because there is money to be made off these older acts. If there was a hip hop alt. radio station that

played the old stuff and new artist that didn't fit in with the mainstream and had that good music I would def fuck with it . but

when you got a few Radio Stations and 4 major labels that control what we listen to on radio its hard for that to happen.

@Miles HIGH there are people jay z age buying Anthony Hamilton albums and going to shows.

@rip.dilla maybe it could start out as a satellite station or a hd station.

Looking at the options though, I dunno why one of these hiphop moguls hasn't thought of starting a HipHop radio station that is an against anything mainstream.

I mean it'd be cool if you can tune into a radio station without hearing the same redundant shit over and over again

But I'm too deep in the Underground to care anyway
