Do you think a college education is still necessary to make it in this world?

I'm gonna say no. College isn't essential.

I was listening to the radio not too long ago, and they were saying how most employers nowadays are looking more for experience and not necessarily a college degree. Most jobs today require on-the-job training and/or a little related experience; no degree necessary.

And as far as I see it, a college degree is only good on paper.

I found this site, where the US Department of Labor compiled a list of high paying jobs, that do not require a degree.

Well this post was helpful and kinda encouraging...In some fields a college degree on paper is preferred, but all the experience you can have with Journalism on your resume might just be enough hopefully.

u can make it without a degree but the odds arent as high and it depends on luck and who u know. its messed up these days cuz the opportunity to get a degree is more and more people are getting degrees ie online or universities. its kinda diluted. now u need more school or u need to get experience or do something to seperate themselves from all the other people with degrees

I guess it depends on the type of job you want. I'm telling you this, there is no one working at this firm that doesn't have a college degree.
Maybe in administration like the secretaries and office managers. But other than that... I think people here have different ideas of good jobs.

I think college education is more necessary than ever in the current scenario. With limited job opportunities, the competition for work is fiercer than you’ve ever known. In such a background, college education provides you a competitive advantage over others. It provides the necessary skills and training those employers these days look for. College education is vital if you want white collar jobs with good work conditions and a decent paycheck. Explore the various undergraduate programs offered at CollegeAmerica. They will give you a real chance at succeeding in the professional world.

depending on what you wanna do

no it's not necessary but you need to have a goal set and whatever you choose to do will take training

whether you do an internship or whatever someone is gonna have to teach you

you don't necessarily need college but need a teacher

if that was the case bill gates wouldnt be a multi-billionaire,yes MULTI

Everyone can't be a Bill Gates. He's the exception, not the rule. You know how many businesses fail in the U.S. in their first year?

College is still necessary, as there are still many fields out there where an employer won't even look at your resume unless you've got a Bachelor's degree, AT MINIMUM. In New York City, you can't become a teacher unless you've got a Master's, when previously you only needed a Bachelor's degree.

Unless you're going into something technical, like auto mechanics or becoming an electrician, a degree is something you should have.

A college degree is like a high school diploma nowadays. Looking back at it, college wasn't even that hard, niggas are just so undisciplined at that age.

Half the people with degrees got it online or cheated their whole way through.

If you want to be rich in this world. Create a need and then find a solution for it.

63% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Second statement is true, or you can get it the ski mask way.

44% percent of that statement is false.

I'm gonna go with the 44% in the middle being false then.

Theres only a 50% percent chance of a statement being false. and 90% of people who quote 44% percent statements are more likely to post on the ic.

It depends, if you want to work someone that paper or accredidation will earn you more. If you have the balls to be your own boss, find your own market, and study business for yourself, you don't need one.
