Do you think a college education is still necessary to make it in this world?

A confidence is reposed in the Colleges that whatever, their degrees certify the holder possesses that knowledge and skill of the division and grade.
It is a scientific and systematic way of assessing the capability and capacity.
As for higher education, it is again natural that the employer wants the best of the lot. A person with master's degree or even doctoral degree is certainly better equipped in knowledge and we should not feel otherwise if he is selected for the job. He is earlier in line, more in knowledge, better in experience.
Had this mode become outdated the colleges would have been closed long long ago. No knowledge without college is still a living truth.
The way out is that a system of employment be so evolved that the demand and supply may have equilibrium. Social scientists are required to do research on this point and bring forward some latest solution.
When there is joint thinking the issues are solved earlier and prove easy and sustainable when actually implemented.

Yeah, this was not too long ago. I think a degree can certainly help most people, but it highly depends on your major.

Yes and no. u really have to look at the actual individual & where they come from. im not gonna go thru this thread to read the insecure comments about how no one gets hired w/ a degree (dumbest shit ever) or how ppl feel its THE ONLY way b/c they all feel inadequate to one another & the work theyve put in just to say u dont necessarily need one. It definitely helps ur situation & if it didnt then nobody would bother with it. For blks id recommend we do go out & get one, for decades weve tried the street route only to be killed off, jailed or leave our families out of shame so lets try another approach & go for an education. it shouldnt be no argument against getting one b/c lets be real we know itll help our situations even if we're already qualified and have proven it to ourselves w/o one.

I think its plausible to say that there are more ppl that are successful than those who dont. U cant use the forbes 400 list to say otherwise cuz to be honest, that list only makes up for about 0.5% of the population & most of them were geniuses of industry and immensely ambitious & those 2 traits alone arent common at all.

you forgot about inheritance

All a college degree is, is showing your employer that you are able to be disciplined and trained properly. If you have a good work record on your resume you dont need a college degree..much less one of those 4 years at all. I guess it all boils down to 2 things, either you have a connection in your field that can vouch for you and get you your first job, or if you dont have that you will pretty much need that degree.

corporate connections>>>>college connections, you can get a 2 year degree and build up your rep with a corporation and get further than people with 4 year degrees, my life is a testiment to that.

All employers want to see is if you can do the work or not, if your work record and references proove that you can do the work, you'll get the job over some book experienced person holding a peice of paper.

This is not an absolute. You also may have different aspects on things than other people. You talking about getting "jobs", while I'm talking about sustaining a "career".

Yes, I think it will eventually get to the point to were I think a bachelor's degree or a trade will be a must for just about all decent paying jobs with benefits.

College is very important. It increases your credibility tenfold when it comes to employment and people taking you seriously. The most important part of a college degree though is education and learning. You can get a college degree but if you don't take it seriously and just piss off in class like probably most students it won't matter.

THe trend im seeing in this thread is...

1. Depends on what field or type of "career" your looking for. It might be more beneficial to go to a 2 yr and certify.

2. Depends on how you define "making it". Certain fields you wont have access to without a degree, while others you can "work ur way up".

No concrete answers, just depends on what ur lookin for personally
