Sorry, but Michael Williams wouldn't have been as smooth as Jamie when it came to Brumhilda and the other women or as cool in tense scenes. Wouldn't have been as believable that women would swoon over him and he always looks intense. He'd own angry slave Django though. As someone else mentioned, Anthony Mackie may have been able to pull off both sides. On the flipside, Idris would have only pulled off ladies love cool Django. Can't see taking him serious as angry slave Django.

See, you gotta peep the critics that compared Foxx's performance to old school Clint Eastwood. Lots of quiet, non-verbal acting. Look "rough" and project SIMMERING RAGE with every glance of your eyes. He killed it in that sense and I can't possibly imagine Will pulling off unspoken anger like that.

Now, that said? The final scene in the mansion? Will woulda SHINED during that scene because that woulda been right in his comfort zone of shit-talking and comedic one-liners.

eh, the thing is with Hollywood, there's a lot of luck involved. Idris could easily become a leading star if the right script for the right film came along at the right time, ya dig? Imagine if Jamie had passed on Ray for whatever reason. Etc. I'm hoping either the Mandela flick or Pacific Rim will do it for homie...

Remember: Bryan Cranston was just a comedic character actor until a dude named Vince Gilligan handed him a script for something called "Breaking Bad".

Hell, I'm still hoping that Jeffrey Wright gets that breakout leading role someday. If you saw the Samuel L. Jackson version of Shaft, you know what I'm talking about.
