anything slavery white people want us to get over it

Eventually we will have & will get over it... maybe not now or in our lifetime but I must happen.

I believe Thomas Jefferson estimated that it would take approx. 200 years for the Negro to get over slavery.

To get over is to forget. The purpose of history is to learn from it. You will never hear anyone tell the Jews to get over their persecution under Nazi Germany. You will never hear anyone tell the Japanese to get over the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagisaki. The African slave trade was more protracted and horrendous than both tragedies. And yet were suppose to get over it.

This government has done a great job at down playing the significance of slavery. Very rarely are we given the true horrific details of it. Thus why you have whites and Negros alike often making a mockery of it. Negros don't even respect the struggle of their ancestors enough to know when their being mocked. It's incredible.

No it's not...you can get over/move past an event w/o forgetting it. This is where the confusion often lies with the "get over slavery" statement.

I hope you're joking.

Go ask a Jew if they're over the holocaust, and see where that gets you.

LET ME EXPLAIN WHAT I MEAN....

BLACKS - WE WENT THROUGH SLAVERY, RAPE MURDER, BURNNINGS, LYNCHIN AND SO ON... NEVER GOT SHYT FROM IT AND WE STILL GET TREATED LLIKE SHYT TO DAY.. YES TIMES ARE WAYY BETTER, BUT WE ARE STILL NOT EQUAL IN SOCIETY

JEWS - GOT BURNED, MURDERED, SUFFERED.. BUT THE GOT REPARATIONS, THEY GOT THERE PEOPLE RUNNNG HOLLYWOOD. THAT SPECIFIC RACE/ETHN HAS BEEN AND ARE CURRENTLY GETTING "REWARDS" FOR THEIR SUFFERING.. NO THEY WILL NEVER FORGET, BUT THAT MONEY AND POWER HELPS TO EASE THE PAIN

An intelligent brother can appreciate the film and still be critical... It's the second day of Kwanzaa!

Describe the characteristic of getting over something as traumatic as slavery as oppose to forgetting it. Does demanding the respect of our ancestors horrific experiences indicate that we haven't got over it or that we merely haven't forgot it? You see in regards to the movie, I have no problem with the actual story line. I actually think it's quite brilliant. The actual comedic portrayal of slavery and plight of blacks in America is something that concerns me. The struggle of our ancestors isn't a joke. The struggles that we have endured and continue to endure aren't a joke. The effects of slavery is still reminiscent in how we view ourselves and the world around us.

@KingJamal it's not my thing. QT loves gratuitous violence and I hate those types of films so I'll give it a miss.

Oh ok. And yea ur right about the violence. I was just curious and ended up seeing it. I wonder how black british folk are gonna react to it. That should be interesting.

Not enough of them for their view to be important unfortunately.

Damn @tabatha_ I didn't know it was like that but ur prolly right

i disagree with the bold, was there a specific scene in the movie that made you feel that way?

Got dayum... yall niggas are experts at film critiques. You guys had dissected the film to make your militant spirit shine bright like a diamond.

Most Tarantinos film had a comedic feel to it.

Plus, this is fiction. Not an actual biopic of the african american holocaust.

This film is based on a love story. So stick your dick in an ant farm and take that militant shit somewhere else.

After watching the film I will give it a 3.5 out of 5. The gruesome death scenes was nice to see the dog killing scene was good. The acting was aight for some reason I just couldnt see Leo as a slave owner. Sam Jackson was comedy relief but a coon. J. Foxx was aight think Don Cheadle or an up and coming actor would have been a better pick.

The soundtrack was really the star of the movie tbh. Whomever picked the songs should get an Oscar imo. The movie isn't a biopic but its just a film about revenge. QT has been an overrated director for years but out of his last films this was his best one.

Rza & Tarantino put the sound track together. And swizz beats did the james brown & tupac collab.

Just saw it last night. Movie was good. Felt awkward sometimes because it would be like, funny line, funny line, funny line, edgy racist line, funny line. The fight scene between the 2 slaves was fucked up. German dude was my fave character just cuz the way he talked. Sam Jackson was funny, reminded me of uncle ruckus off the boon docks.
