I wish I could get rid of those social sites. It ruined my life. I just tried using Facebook once, but I deactivated it after 4 days of using. It sucks!

It ain't about hiding anything. People have a right to privacy, plain and simple. If you really want privacy, you would never put a shred of your personal info online at all. Look at it like this: Remember the IC chick I mentioned earlier? The starting point for me finding EVERYTHING about her was her social network page she had in her signature. Doing a google search from there I got her current address, her criminal record (drug related), phone number, relatives... all kinda shit. I showed another IC chick just what's available on herself online during a YIM chat and the results I believe shook her a bit. Fact is, more of what SHOULD be private information is being pushed online and that's reason alone to never put even a small piece of your personal info online.

you dont have to tell me, all this is the reason i dont put shit on the internet i dont want to be public. i really dont give a fuck about whatever i have on facebook. i am not even there under my government ...

For a lot of reasons (mainly work), I've chosen to get rid of everything involving social networks. I've grown disgusted with that shit. I did a search on myself (paid one) and found a lot of disparaging shit.

Old email accounts - Canceled

Twitter - Canceled

LinkedIn - Canceled

In the next 5 years companies will be including facial recognition on their background checks. I feel bad for the niggas who will turn 24 one day and realize that picture of them high as fuck will ruin whatever chance they had at getting that job at Morgan Stanley. Hopefully I can remove some of my digital footprint. Besides SOHH and Allhiphop IC, I aint fuckin with that social networking shit.

Unless you simply disconnect from the internet altogether, you'll be linked in one way or another. If you've ever done banking online, you linked in, you ever bought something on Amazon you linked in, if you have a smartphone...you definately linked in. Within the next 5 years, there is no way you can escape the digital communication wave, unless you disconnect from any form of it altogether.

Actually all you need is an email address and an account anywhere online linked to that email address and anyone can find info on you. All the internet is, is a big ass file cabinet. Anything pertaining to that topic will be dropped in a forever open file. Certain things will be protected while other things are open to the public, shit you may have forgotten about.

Marketing firms are using that to their advantage now. For example, let's say you bought something from Amazon a coat perhaps. What marketing firms and other companines are doing is thay will see that you bought a coat from Amazon, and will advertise that particular brand on another site you may have an account on. So you might read a north face banner on this site, but won't even realize that it is catered specifically to you and your buying history online.

It seems like no big deal, but that implies that companies have enough access to your personal info without you having to be on social networks that are rumored to sell people's info. The moment you go public online, you are now open to the public. Obama and the rest of the government has no idea how big this is, but they say shit to make us believe that they have it all under control, but they don't.
