DC is dope . I've been meaning to check out Atlanta tho I want to go sometime this year

Maryland reminds me to a blacker NJ with better public transportation tho

You'll prolly have a good time here..plenty to do. 2 main places I'm trying to hit are Charlotte and Houston. wouldn't mind seeing DC tho.

Never stayed in DC but I have family that stayed there. All of them moved because it was too expensive and traffic. Family and friends that stayed in LA, San Diego and San Fran all the same thing.

Guess where they stay................................ATL!

ATL Night life is helped out that this is the home of alot of different athletes/entertainers in different sports and genres. Why? Because it is cheap to stay here. So you can stay here for cheap in a nice home in a fairly nice neighborhood. A $44,000 job and you have a house, car, and bills paid.

So DC nightlife maybe more mature but who the hell goes to club to just hear non-dance music. I go to concerts for that. If I want to chill and drink. I go to a bar. Sports bar no less.

So different strokes, different folks.

I'm born and raised in DC and was never a club person. If the shit didn't have go-go band or some type of live music I never liked the shit.

Went to some clubs a few months ago and seen people in the SERIOUSLY doing that "millie rock" dance when that song came on and just felt like

15394169.gif

Man I still can't drive by where the Hot Shop used to in Marlow Heights without having a go go flashback lol. Was a legit restaurant they turned into a go go spot on the weekends...so much shit went down in that parking lot

Yea Hot Shop was the spot...it was another spot off central ave by where that all daz shop that used rock too

As I got older I used to be all about Wednesday night at the trade winds for BYB and there was a spot out Laurel that used to rock on Saturday nights with familiar faces....but niggas wasn't bout riding all the way out Laurel from SE.

I can pretty much tell my life story from all the go go spots

but my nigga D. morgan you never made it to DC Live? Nigga that college night was something special joe...just so many bitches you had to take 45 minutes just to narrow it down to a top 5 you wanted to get at every time you came

Shit that just reminded me of when Jordan opened 1223. Wall to wall bitches

Or how bout when Love 1st opened. My god i was fucking hoes from cali, Detriot or where ever. Hoes were traveling here just to party. I cried when that shit died off. One night they had LL cool J inside and Beyonce on a stage outside performing. I swear I seen at least 500 dimes that night.

@D. Morgan

@lamontbdc The Love was a decent spot when it opened I can say that is a regular club that was quite alright. I didn't like DC live and I got in there for free and still didn't like it. Just wasn't my cup of tea. Truth be told went to the Park years ago and I didn't like that spot either.

I'm a go-go nigga through and through was raised off that shit. My first club experiences when I wasn't even old enough to be in a club was go-go shit. I'm talking about '95-'96 sunday nights R.E. at the bravo bravo going to high school hurting monday morning. Getting in the metro club at a early age partying. Even though I was 18-19 at the time talking Club U when dudes had to be 25 to get in. I'm in there with grown bitches young nigga with a pocket full money and my OG homies who only 10 years younger than my mama taking me to the club with them and they got that bag. So experiencing that at such a young age made DC live weak as shit to me.

I have NEVER seen as many bad bitches as I seen the night club u opened back up after it had been closed for a while because the dude got killed up there. That night it was LITERALLY HOE STAMPEDE when they started letting them bitches line up to get in. I was amazed and was willing to pay any amount to get in there that night with all those bitches.

I used to see Back anywhere they played in the city. I used to walk to the Sugar Kane Place cause it was around my way at 13-14 yrs old. My first go-go ever let out at 3am and I was only 12-13 at the time and was hooked ever since.

It's like having to explain to people when we say we're going down to The Mall vs just going to the mall aka an actual shopping center

So my takeaway... DC has the better nightlife for 40+...

Sticking with the OP It is two different cultures. Doesn't matter if you 40+. I know 40+ that still loves going to clubs listening to 80s-90s dance cuts. The ATL had a club here called Bellbottoms that I loved. All they play was disco and 80s early 90s dance. Shit was nice cause you can wear jeans and dance without some late 90s moshpit music. If I wanted that I would have just went two clubs down.

They have first friday here also. It starts off as a business forum then it turns into a bar scene. But being in the south, We aint playing Talib Kweli and MF Doom to get the crowd hype.

There are different types clubs here just like any where else but..............................ATL is the hype city right now. It will change. Houston is slowly becoming that. DC had the mantle for awhile. It goes in cycles.

See, I think DC will always be a good spot because of the money in this area. Gov't money never dries up. ATL definitley is the Hotspot right now. Lot of hype because of the entertainment industry

Dc is not in that fight, sir.

Cost of living or not, there's too much money , power, prestige, and opportunity here for it to ever fluctuate. Govt agencies here are largely employed by young black women, a great deal of em from all over the country fresh outta college . Atlanta has transplants, too, but not on this level.

Dc has women who come to work on the hill, for a 3 letter agency, the White House, and of course to go to Howard. So DC is beyond trend swings and what's popular. Also the culture and history is too rich
