Yeah she tried to get him to be in his life from the minute she found out she was pregnant. He just wound up rebuffing her and told her that's between her and her Husband. She made attempts after that for him to see his Son when he was young, but it was like pulling teeth. So she gave up, and accepted it. had he acknowledged or cared about her or his kid, they wouldn't be married today, I think her current Husband was the safety net.
I haven't painted her in the best light but she is not some cold heartless chick. She felt bad and struggled with this shit for a long time, but she wanted a Father figure in her Son's life and felt that her Husband was best. She was 20 years old, now she's gone to far to come back.
