Ive refered to him as a character.

I said my personal theory is that the character could be inspired by his friend from 03 Adolesence (Who could very possibly be a fictional character as well)

But in 4YEO Cole himself serves as a narrator in parts especially the final verse and he talks about the character as if he was close to him. (A friend)

Of course themes in the album are from Coles life. He is the sole writer of the project and can draw ideas & themes from his own life. But as an artist he can easily put those feelings & situations into the character who the album is about.

This just my guess. That last paragraph doesnt really explain Coles exact direction he was going for. Its kinda left open-ended for the listener. Even where he says Neighbors is a "step outside" he also says its "still commentary on the albums theme".

Album is dope especially listening to it hearing the concept behind it..... I don't see how ppl can't see the change and growth in Cole music ain't no way you can go listen to sideline story then come back and listen to this and say he's the same....
