Can't really be a cheat code considering I've listened to probably over 100 albums this year w/o paying for one specifically thru streaming services

and before the streaming caught on with Apple/Tidal....

the listener chooses to pay for albums these days(for the last 5-7 years) because it's more convenient to get it w/o paying...especially physical copies

As far as the Kendrick and Cole debate - Kendrick has Cole beat in a photo finish. He's a step ahead of Cole because of his creativity and story telling skills on GKMC & TPAB.

And like someone said before - If Kendrick announced a surprise album next Wednesday or Thursday night, Cole's new project would be an afterthought. Don't get me wrong, people will still buy it, but Kendrick would have most of the attention on Thursday night.

Drake should not even be in the conversation when it comes to real lyricists like Cole and Kendrick.

The excitement for this albums shows that mainstream hip hops fanbase is fine. Drake easily has a larger fanbase despite having the OVO sweatshop. The mumble rappers will have more spins on radio which is fine. But the loyalty and commitment of Coles fanbase will be shown yet again when he drops this album and if he tours again.

The legal amount of purchases on short notice will be impressive and will outsell many rap albums full year of sales. When he sets tour dates the shows will sell for the most part as well. Cole doesn't have the biggest fanbase but he has one of the most loyal ones. I have seen that over the years going to many shows and talking to fans.
