Atlanta did not create anything why are we giving them credit

you can't front - the ATL movement especially in the early 2000's brought the party vibe to hip hop

waka said it best - at one time you needed to break records in NY - now? it has to be in the ATL

i remember in a radio industry debate it was brought up that the biggest foot print for radio is down south now - NY is smaller and the west is like the smallest

Records are still broke in NY.You need NY to be natl, not to mention all the labels are still there

If a local record pops enough it will end up in NY which will make in a Natl record as apposed to a regional record

@ATL_DRO‌ it's a fact what I said.I don't know what the no sign is for

there are more ppl in the tri state than the whole south. There are 11 million ppl just in NYC alone

Records aren't broken nationally in ATL

records can be regional hits for a yr in ATL,but it blows up when it reaches NY

Don't let your ATL bias blind you from facts

There are no major record labels in ATL

Give an example of a record that didn't played in the tri state that went national?

now you're reaching. you can't really believe that hot 97's footprint in the tri state area is larger than ALL of the south (texas, louisiana, mississippi, georgia, fla, ,etc). IF i was an artist i'd go down south first to get my music ran before worrying about up north

when ebro was program director at hot 97 - he admitted himself that they only played the 'hottest songs' and passed on anything else because it was 'too risky' biz wise

they take records that already have a buzz and put their stamp on it. thats not breaking a record

there are no major labels in ATL but most of the influence is still coming from there

With all due respect. You don't know what you're talking about. You NYC cats are the ones that let your bias get the better of you. A lot of stuff breaks and is popular everywhere but NYC because people in NYC are so slow to show love to people outside of the Tristate. Just think about No Limit. They never really got in NYC love but they got played all over the South, the West, and the Midwest. Same goes with all that club type music. Just because you didn't hear it in the NYC spots doesn't mean it wasn't being played everywhere else in the country.

It still applies to now. If anything the South has more influence than it did then.

Are you joking? "Hot Boy" gets as much spin as "Lifestyle" on 103.3 and 107.9 in Atlanta.

Just because you rapped about dope does not make you a trap rapper. Just because you rapped about hustling does not make you a hustle rapper. We already discussed all of this before. Ice T spoke on all types of hustles. Rakim claimed "I used to be a stickup kid now I think of all the devious things I did". Nas claimed he used to rob foreigners for there green cards, etc.

Mac-10 was hardly the first to rap about dope and he didn't have everybody running around making dope boy music. You dudes love promoting your preferred rappers(NIGGA WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?) and there is nothing wrong with that, but I have always wondered why you need to bring up other rappers instead of just making your statement.

I never heard T.I. say I was the first person ever rapping about dope.(THIS IS WHERE YOU LOST CREDIBILITY PLUS THIS AINT EVEN WHAT NIGGAS SAID) As far as controversy he brought a lot of it to the A in ways that rappers were not bringing it. The whole beef stuff with several rappers including playing a role in Flip being obsolete was something the A was not into. The closest thing to that was Pastor Troy with No Limit. Remember this documentary was from Atlanta's standpoint. Controversy, trap rap running the game when plenty had already tried, beef, all that he was a major part of that.

Nigga my whole post flew over your head. You obviously don't know about mack 10 to say what you said too. Half the shit you posted was off lol. Get out yo country ass feelings and read my post over again.

You don't actually know what D-BOY aka trap rap is to post what you just posted. I remember in a thread about it you was in there being all extra. But in reality you just didn't know what you was talking about. I was gonna break it down to you but I don't feel like typing that much(monk already basically corrected you). It is a style of rap and mack 10 was the first to do it and he was the only one at the time. T.I kinda did it on urban legend but it wasn't really d-boy/trap rap any damn way. Jeezy is the one who got everybody doing this "style" of rap after he blew. Gucci mane, clipse(mostly pusha t though), lil wayne(for a brief moment), officer ricky, yo gottie(for a brief moment), bird man(he even changed his name from baby lol), etc etc

Why some of y'all be acting like you don't know what nigga's talking about? is it because you in yo feelings? is it because I called out Telling Information's corny ass antics yet again?

To me, New Orleans did a better job kicking down the gates with Hot Boys and No Limit. They the ones that really put the south on the map.

No limit kicked open the doors and made it cool to be country. Rapalot loosen up the locks everything else came after that. Cash money had nothing to do with opening up any doors they rode the new orleans wave. Even though they were killing it underground in the south before no limit got hot. Alanta mostly the dungeon fam basically made the so-called hip hop heads (technique geeks) start to pay more attention to the south.
