I can say NY didn't really fuck with outcast from jump, but they did get love eventually with Rosa Parks. Lil John never got hated on. That music was turned up. I did have issues with Jeezy cause he wasn't lyrical when he came out and TI had dope songs but i didn't fuck with his albums. Luda got love from being the new Red Man with his antics. I noticed him when he released that track on Timbaland first album called Fat Rabbit. Nobody fucked with the other wack shit like stinky leg. I'm sorry bro but just because it's from ATL and we don't like it, it doesn't mean we hating. Wack rappers got shitted on in NY just the same. NY fell off though so i guess it don't matter what we think.

That was Dallas...

Who knew the Step Daddy was such an important rapper in hip hop history.

I wonder if dude is pissed that most of us jus think of him from that one song

Yeah Sammy Sam was old by then. Folk only remember the step daddy song.

Just because you rapped about dope does not make you a trap rapper. Just because you rapped about hustling does not make you a hustle rapper. We already discussed all of this before. Ice T spoke on all types of hustles. Rakim claimed "I used to be a stickup kid now I think of all the devious things I did". Nas claimed he used to rob foreigners for there green cards, etc.

Mac-10 was hardly the first to rap about dope and he didn't have everybody running around making dope boy music. You dudes love promoting your preferred rappers and there is nothing wrong with that, but I have always wondered why you need to bring up other rappers instead of just making your statement.

I never heard T.I. say I was the first person ever rapping about dope. As far as controversy he brought a lot of it to the A in ways that rappers were not bringing it. The whole beef stuff with several rappers including playing a role in Flip being obsolete was something the A was not into. The closest thing to that was Pastor Troy with No Limit. Remember this documentary was from Atlanta's standpoint. Controversy, trap rap running the game when plenty had already tried, beef, all that he was a major part of that.

He said the shit in the show. He said people had mentioned the trap in their songs before, but before him no one had rapped from the vantage point of a drug dealer. Now you can argue that he was talking about from ATL only, but even then it's not true. Plenty of people rapped from that standpoint of someone who was selling drugs. And when he made the controversy comment he was talking about his music as if it was controversial. He wasn't talking about all that extra shit. It was basically all the same theme, which was that he was the one that really introduced that hard core drug dealing type of music to the ATL. I don't think that's true, although he might have been the first to pigeon hole himself as an artist into that one category.

To me, New Orleans did a better job kicking down the gates with Hot Boys and No Limit. They the ones that really put the south on the map.

Cash Money and No Limit had good movements for themselves, but the South was already making big noise before either of them jumped on the scene big time. Hell, they did the opposite of kicking down gates really because both groups relied more on regional support than getting universal love from everywhere.

It was good, and if ATL music was nothing but what was shown, it would be tight. However, for every Outkast from ATL, there's a Ying Yang Twins.

Still, the time when Dungeon Family was big was some good times for Southern Hip Hop in general.

Is it just me or is T.I. a real clown? Respect where it's due. He's a tight rapper, but every time he talks, I have to shake my head. Why does this dude always act like nobody was rapping about drugs before he came out? I guess you can say he popularized Trap Music. But his music was never controversial and he wasn't the first person in Hip Hop or even ATL to rap from the standpoint of being a drug dealer. He always says that shit. I have yet to see one interview from him where he doesn't spend half of it giggling like a school girl.

get off the cornball shit and diversify your bonds nigga, we need all of that shit, its all apart of the story, you may not understand it but i appreciate it wholly because i am apart of the culture

No, we don't need everything. It's nice to have a variety of musical styles. That's all well and good. However, you don't need a bunch of niggas who can barely put two sentences together on TV talking about they are representing the culture. That shit is a disgrace to the culture.

Again, I'm not saying anything is wrong with the music. I've made this point now three times. I was talking about particular artists and how they represent themselves, the culture, and where they are from. You can make club music and not sound like a retard when you're being interviewed. People outside of the South already think everybody from the South is slow. We don't need a bunch of dudes getting national exposure and doing everything they can to prove those people right.

The ATL was the GOAT during them years.

I swear Lil Jon turned Atlanta up during that time. That nigga had everybody wanna go down there
