RED Hood;1720305 said:well i'm black and they wont. and why isn't Rock black music since black people created it. Black people created most of the genres in american popular music. Rock,Jazz,Blues,R&B,Hip-Hop they only thing the did not create is country but a nigga probably created that too, the white man just stole the idea from him. But the thing is black people don't own it , white people own it .

White people been wearing Gucci, Ralph Lauren, True Religion etc way before black people or any Rappers did those are high end luxery brands rich white people been wearing since they existed it was a case of the hood following whites as far as real designer clothing is concerned
Even Levis which isnt a luxery brand was embraced by whites way before anyone else
Sure some whites wore Rocawear and that but that was the hardcore Rap fans more blacks now follow white trends in fashion then whites following black fashion like Sean John

Take the above pic for example. Taylor Swift can take a pic with a fan wearing a Nazi symbol on his shirt and not worry about any real backlash from it. I want rappers to be the same way. Take back ownership of this genre of music called hip-hop. So what if white ppl get offended, this music was never intended for them to begin with.
georgia boi;1720700 said:That wasn't my point. I'm talking about clothing lines like FUBU, Karl Kani, Phat Farm. Clothing lines that were owned by Blacks and were abandoned by us once white people started rocking it.

aswadh;1720706 said:Where you got that pic from? I'm not really up on Taylor Swift but I'm kinda surpised though since there was never any backlash that I could remember. Is she racist?
If a black artist would've done something similar his or her career would be in great danger to say the least.
StillDreaming;1720758 said:Its a recent pic that she took with a fan. Where she was exactly I don't know. I wont call her racist because I dont know her or follow her music, but its pretty safe to say that this will not affect her record sales.
aswadh;1720718 said:I see your point but brothers stopped messing with those brands you mentioned cuz the quality of the clothes was inferior and the items were/ are tacky and overpriced. That goes for most 'black owned' brands. Only exception is Sean John...
aswadh;1720797 said:Neither do I but that pic right there raises alot of questions though...
On another note I wanna ask you how you feel about what I said in my first post? These rappers/ black entertainers are more scared of Jews than Europeans. Every once in a while you'll see a rapper say something about white folks or even make a song about 'em. Cube made songs back in the day, Soulja Slim did it in '01 and even Plies did it a few years back and last year. You'l never hear a rapper talk about a Jew or even reference them and if they do that sh*t get censored with the quickness. Why is that?

True statement. It's the complete opposite these days.georgia boi;1719208[B said:]Music should offend sometimes to make people think and analyze things that they either ignored or were afraid to face. A lot of artists these days offend with everything, but the music. When Pac, Cube and PE were doing it, people discussed the music whether it was offensive or empowering. These days, it's antics outside of the music.[/B]
Commercial/Mainstream Rap has always been tailored for the masses, constantly changed and motivated for the money. Hip Hop is always for the people by giving a message and spreading awareness in the minority communities. You can see why the major labels are only interested in acts that will give them great revenue....they are only concerned about quantity of money over the integrity/quality of music. Hip-Hop is still alive in the underground/independent scene, but Commercial rap is a feeding frenzy!!!!RED Hood;1719815 said:Commercial Hip Hop is for the paying fan. The hip hop culture itself is for anybody willing to embrace it . Hip hop wouldn't have survived this long if just black people were interested in it.
StillDreaming;1718995 said:Real shit. I wonder how far some of these rappers will go to keep their white fan base intact?
dj expanium;1719007 said:For sure. I'm still waiting on that apology letter.
nujerz84;1722766 said:Considering most whitefolks arent buying alot of hip hop albums rite now I dont see the point of the thread...
RED Hood;1720018 said:How would niggas eat off rap if its just black people buying they shit . Rap wouldn't be international like it is now . you wouldn't have millionaire moguls and all if that shit if it would have stayed in the south bronx .
Death metal and Goth have people to financially support it . They stay with people at their shows buying merchandise , cds, and all that shit. Black folk barely buy cds from their favorite artists. and GTFOH with that Egyptian shit . If your ancestor came over during the slave trade there more than likely from west africa and Egypt is north so them and their accomplishments don't have shit to do with you .
StillDreaming;1720952 said:Eh she's a White woman in America, she can get away with anything. I guess she got the Neo-Nazi demographic on lock.
georgia boi;1722986 said:That's not true. The Dixie Chicks (a group whose demographic is primarily white) faced a lot of backlash for saying that they were ashamed of President Bush. The satement doesn't look like it holds a lot of weight, but such words are damaging when said in another country that has tight relations with the U.S. According to this article, they were banned from radio and received death threats for that statment http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1196419,00.html. If anything, it shows no matter what color someone is, some aspects of the music industry will not support it if it could potentially cause them to lose money or support.
I would like to hear Taylor's explanation for the picture with dude in the red swatztika. Even though that symbol is also used in relation to a Chinese religious organization for charity, that dude's comments on his myspace page suggests that he's a racist.
