SMH...

It could of been worse outcome those two boys

All they got was a year? Wow.

They 16 and 17 years old they was saying they can possibly face more time in the future.

They could face more time in the future? How? If a Psychiatrists deems that they are still rapists....... Iiiii don't think so. They'll be in College on time most likely.

Them going to Kent state university is out of the window that's for sure.

lol @ grown dudes acting like minors should have the same foresight as them after years of trial and error.

I agree with you here that's why I think think punishment was adequate.

It kinda shoots down what Skyler was saying on the cool though.

It sucks that they have to register as sex offenders for life though or however that works.

I'm not sure if it's life or not in this situation.

The only reason I feel like the punishment was adequate is the fact that they're minors, they have to register and they didn't actually have intercourse with the girl (if they did it's not proven).

I don't think not knowing your limit on the alcohol is on the same playing field as not knowing to not sexually assault a unconscious female at all.

@MzGrahamBitches while that maybe true her alcohol consumption and decisions were a by product that heavily contributed to the situation.

I'm not trying to be insensitive to what happened but that's a crude reality.

The boys made a terrible decision and I'm one of the ones that don't think they should pay for the rest of there lives for a decision they made as 16 or 17 year old kids.

Make them sit in a juvenile facility until they are 18 then let them go.

I believe that's punishment enough for the their actions here.

Some won't agree with me on that.

All people do foolish shit but I'd be foolish to think a teenage boy particularly one under the influence of alcohol or drugs has the foresight of an adult man.

They were saying she was known as the "train whore" prior to this incident by other students from her high school this is definitely not her first time getting into situations like this.

I'd be more willing to agree with you had either of the boys shown any type of remorse throughout the whole things.

It was reported that at the beginning of trial they were both pretty arrogant about the whole thing.

White boy was more worried about his football season than what he had done.

It wasn't until they were sentenced and realized that they WEREN'T getting off with a slap on the hand that the waterworks and apologies began.

Fuck both of them.

It doesnt shoot down anything I said.

Parents arent expected to teach kids to drink. But they are expected to teach their sons that rape is wrong & consent is necessary. Point blank period.

We shouldnt expect kids to know their alcohol limits but not violating someone physically is some rudimentary basic shit that you should instill in your kid from young.

I agree it is shit that people know at a young age but I don't necessarily agree with how you excuse the actions off for the young lady as being young and not knowing how to handle her liquor and not pointing that out as a factor contributing to the boys actions.

The boys are young too and I'm sure that liquor made them a lot more apt to do some shit they wouldn't normally do which is sexually assault this girl.

I've read or heard conflicting reports so I won't speculate on anything, but it seems to be believed these guys were touching this girl inappropriately and not necessarily raping her by having sexual intercourse.

You can't use alcohol and being young to excuse the girls actions and not at least use it as a reason to consider for the boys doing what they did.

Heard on the news that there may be more charges coming and there are alot of kids not talking to police. So you know there more then just these 2 who were involved.

SN: why do dudes think it's cool to run a train on a girl? Even if it is consentual, why would you want to place your dick in a pussy or mouth another dude JUST busted in??

All alcohol does is lower your inhibitions. If lowering their inhibitions made those boys want to gang rape someone, then they need a lot more than juvenile detention.

So you're saying that all young boys have an inherent desire to rape but their sober inhibitions keep them from doing it?

And for the record, these boys jammed their fingers in her pussy on tape, pissed on her, and tried to get her to give some head but she was too drunk to open her mouth. What do you call that? "Touching inappropriately?"

It doesn't just lower your inhibitions. It impedes your judgement.

Most young boys will try to stick their dick in anything comes along. Take away their inhibitions and their ability to fully think things through and suddenly some unconscious pussy seems like fair game.

It's not just young boys. Pretty much everybody has something that they know is wrong and wouldn't do under normal situations that they might turn around and do when their brain is dulled a little by drugs and/or alcohol.

I've never understood the obsession with running trains. It like some dudes got to include their homeboys in on everything they do. That's just strange to me.

Hmmm...I'm sure that had nothing to do with the fact that this is a HUGE football town and she's accusing two of the star football players.

I thought you had some real proof.

To this day I've never understood the action of running a train on a girl ,I rather it be me and her nobody else.

It is a pack thing. When you are young, most dudes run in packs. I did it. Hell some chick like that shit. Ran one on a sober chick on the ship. I was the fourth dude to get sucked off and she was still on hoover vacuum status. She got a good mouf.

Regardless if she was "Steubenville train whore" or not those two boys are fucked for life any way, they are sex offenders which is the lowest thing to be labeled in society hell being label a murderer is not as bad as being labeled as a rapist sex offender in society for the most part.

and don't forget, bragged about it all on video tape

anyway, what i'm tripping on, did y'all see cnn's coverage of this, they never mentioned the victim once, it was all about how terrible it was that these young men's lives were ruined. it was disgusting. apparently there's a petition on change.org for cnn to apologize for it's coverage

Fox News actually aired the victim's name. What I think alot of cases like these boil down to though is I think as men we KNOW the instant damage a sexual assault allegation can do to someone's rep. Even if proven 100% innocent that stigma of being accused of a sex crime NEVER leaves you and I think on some level men are sensitive to that. Balance that out with that natural instinct to protect, yes you can feel the shit literally run through your veins when you read stories like this, and you often get the opinions of men conflicted with those 2 emotions and why our opinions tend to be more spread out while women tend to be more united on issues like this.

First off obviously you have no kids nor do you work around juvenile adolescent males this age apparently.

I work around boys in this age range everyday.

Trust me when I say the little jokers will fuck anything with two legs and a vagina.

Sex dominates a lot of these boys thoughts because it's their primary topic of discussion along with sports.

They talk about getting cutty as they call it all day long sports and fucking.

Even when they're not talking about it sexual innuendo is used even when not necessary.

Now you take these same little boys and introduce them to a situation where alcohol is involved which hampers sound judgement and a semi conscious female then you might not have a good situation.

For some of these same little hormonal boys that I work with who've never been arrested they would or very possibly could do something stupid and end up just like these boys in this case.

Some of you ladies need to research up on adolescent male psychology.

Obviously many of you are way off base in your thinking on that particular topic.

A lot of males of the adolescent variety do stupid stuff first and think later particular when it comes to their dealing with females and sex.

I've noticed "Divided the small town" in at least 3 seperate articles. Thats some 'A Time to Kill' type media hype.

I hate when cases like these get hyped. All of a sudden this is a 'national debate' on parenting, social media, underage drinking, etc.

Sometimes you gotta realize when the media is puttin the battery in ur back. As evident in this thread, b/c i promise there are A LOT of words, but aint nothin really bein said.

From my perspective, most people are in agreement. 1) Dont rape. 2) They sorta raped, 3) They got a 'we sorta raped somebody' sentence. Not much real argument goin on, once you remove all the side shyt

^^ Cause they're too busy promoting it with a pat on the back or a "Where were these girls when I was in high school??" type comments.

Curbing that obsession? Good Luck.

My sex talk would go like this. Sex.... Good Rape ....Bad. If she doesn't consent it's rape son. If she's too drunk and you're too drunk she can STILL say you raped her. Be careful son.....that's about it....oh.... and strap up. Have fun.
