Pinata is flying right now. It could close the game with 6 more votes. I think that a 10 votes margin will give a legit aspect to the winner. ..

However this year ill start soon.

Ill divide the year in 4 quaters. Ive realised that these kind of poll makes us relisten and DISCOVER artists. As a matter of fact a lot of us havent poped Pinata or else before or just listened without close attention.

Gibbs won on the IC but in the real world he lost. You could put any mainstream rapper vs any underground rapper on the IC and the mainstream rapper would lose.

Don't believe me? Put a Biggie vs Joe Budden thread and bet Budden wins. Lmfao

Or Gibbs could just have the better album *shrugs*

Im a big Cole fan everyone here knows that but I can't cheat Gibbs out of this.

Only thing I will say is I've been listening to Piñata for months vs cadillactica for 2 months and Forest hills for 1 month. So maybe months from now my opinion will be different.

The IC is not a balance representation of hiphop. 80% of the people on here are backpack fans and hate mainstream music

We must resect the opinions of everybody.

What are the conclusions out of this:

-the IC GOT TASTE : theses are two superior albums that went through other superior others,

- THE UNDERGROUND RESURGENCE:

It may not be televised but from Run the Jewelz2 to Pinata we have a way better indy catalogue imo. Plus i find this poll more gullible than the VMA BILLBOARD AND ACADEMIC AWARDS combined.

That being said, its not over yet. A 10 votes margin is needed.

If they really hated mainstream music they would have vot for Cadillactica in the maintream album of the year thread imo.

We the IC are a voice among others. We count. Unfortunately butts picks get more attention than hiphop no pun. But we are lacking of networking. Somebody has to PM the IC GALAXY and make them vote.

WE NEED MORE PEOPLE. And thats my task. Ill get the 100 votes for this final. If i fail at least ive tried.

It was close in the voting and Cole isn't too mainstream

Still its mainstream bruh. With all the shit they have gone through i dont think that the black US posters will vote for Gibbs just to put shade on a social bent rapper like Cole imo.

As per the young @lemmy's request.

Piñata is my choice out of the two. Even tho PRrhyme is better than both.

It actually came into discussion between me and a homie of mine if Gibbs shit was up there with Madvillainy.

I like the collaboration of two the worlds, shows both of their depth. I can relate a lot more to Piñata too.

Don't get me wrong, Cole shit is a good 4, maybe 4.5. But it tapered off toward the latter half of the album, especially with the singing. It's like I get it, definitely get it, but what he was tryna do could been translated a little better with a better singer, coulda touched a lot more people's soul with a good enough singer. And he had some gems in there which I said I haven't had to go back and relisten to a verse or two since some of Hov's old shit. Was kinda nice to have to do that again. He got real slick on it.

But through and through, Madlib and Gibbs was something even Cole fans needed. Plus, it was released early in the year and still stood through a lot of other really good albums.
