Man, yall gon stop hating on my nigga Soulo, those last two albums weren't as good as stellar ass Control System, but they were solid nonetheless. That being said, CS is a top 10 TDE project, prolly even top 5 or 3, but Section.80 >>> CS by just a lil bit.

IMO

IF YOU BUY TPAB YOU SHOULD GET UNTITLED/UNMASTERED WITH IT...

UNTITLED IS A GREAT "COMPANION ALBUM" FOR TPAB...

EVEN THOUGH IT PLAYS WELL AS A STANDALONE...

ITS AN UNOFFICIAL BONUS DISC IMO...

MUSICALLY HE'S IN THE SAME SPACE AS TPAB...

Q is from one of the hardest streets in LA (Hoover). LOL!

I think he's alright. It took awhile for his style to grow on me. But I'm still puzzled on how Q (Interscope) and SZA (RCA) got major distribution deals before Jay Rock.

Man I can recall when I first heard this album. Freshman year in ULL, everyone was bumping this shit on some Get rich or dye tryin undisputed album to listen too type shit.

From the opening of album intro, how "broken" the people sounded saying a prayer, with the distortion of their voices and playback of their prayer, to the haunting , yet angellic and melodic humming from producers da bizness, I knew at that moment I was about to embrace something that was truly surreal, important, and powerful.

Immediately, Kendrick comes into to some werid distortion snares rhythm patterns I never heard , and painted a vivid picture of Sheraine, storytelling about this young woman who was apart of his inner vices and conflictions of being a good kid in a mad city of Compton.

That was just the first song. From the interludes, concept, storytelling, diversity of sounds, to the feeling of hopelessness about a generation I was apart, glorification of violence and peer pressure swaying good people to dark places, this album spoke to me in a very important way. It was very revealing, hunting, spiritual, beautiful, and made listeners feel the sense of guilt, dirt, sorrow, pitty, ignorance, lust, etc.

Collect calls was a bonus track, but just the production alone was one of my favorite beats ever due to the conveying of creating a hoplessness

Classic album

I see alot of people saying this. Kendrick got signed when he was 15 years old after Top Dawg heard his first mixtape. But success didnt come until 2005 when Jay Rock got signed. With Jay Rock they had joint venture deals setup thru Asylum/Warner Bros. But they failed to properly handle Jay Rock's first LP Follow Me Home so the left the deal. Then Ab Soul got signed in 2007. Schoolboy Q got signed in 2009. Now you see why Jay Rock is only signed to TDE

You forgot to point out that Strange Music put out FMH in a joint venture situation with TDE.

I was stating why Jay Rock remains independent and the beginning of TDE. Strange music is also an independent label not a major.
