the problem started with hiphop when niggaz like Suge and the west coast brought Gang life in it.then it went down from there

even dre said he regretted creating gangsta rap.

dre didn't create it though. he just played a large part in bringing it to the mainstream

Suge is the 90s version of Birdman. Snoop & company came to Death Row because of Dre. After Dre left then it would've been Pac that would've attract people to the label but he didn't live long enough.

Idk I think pac was on his way out too. he started realizing that suge was ripping him off

wasn't about to start his own label and take his acting more serious

Yeah makaveli records was the music label and euthanisia was going to be his movie thing.

interesting. I never really spent too much time following suge or the inner workings of deathrow. but I recall suge and pac were having a falling out over him getting more serious into acting. obviously suge wanted him to fulfill his contract duties with him releasing CD's

In the beginning of Bomb First you hear Pac say Suge shot him.

That's some real eerie shit

kill that urban legend already.

Suge quotes:

"one time Pac socked snoop. snoop went on the radio talking about he would do a song with Puffy. Pac confronted him in the studio and socked him in the stomache and told him he would beat his a$s!"

interviewer: And what did snoop do?

Suge: he just threw up and cried and sh*t.

i remember a quote from the source about puffy crying to suge because a nigga in a wheel chair from the deathrow camp smacked him lol.

It was Jack the rapper and he rolled up on puffy trying to get a pic and say what's up, puff played him not knowing dude was an o.g. dude spit on diddy abd cursed him out

Ok so assuming all that is true the t/s question stil bears repeating "how the fuck can suge strongarm his way into 300 million"

That shit has to be the ultimate strongarm in all of american history. The gotti mobb was never worth 300 million

Tony soprano in a fictional show was never worth that much

Marlo and avon and whoever else on the wire was not worth 20 mil let alone 300

So this real life guy from the street was able to take no skills other than an ability to beat ppl up and make em drink piss and turn that into 300 million?

We missing a big part of the story, cuz if our understanding of suge is all it took, then this has to be the biggest gangster of american history.

This post got me thinking...that coupled with the fact that this nigga Suge NEVER goes to Prison for that long even though he can be linked to like 85% of all murders that happened in the LA metro area in the 90's .. shit might be waaaaay deeper than rap.

wtf you talking about Suge is always getting stretches he got 5 years 4 a violation and served it all, if anything they over the top hit him with shit. I feel like a lot of you Kats are so programmed to hate Suge for shit he either did not do or is exaggerated that you are blind to the moves he was making when shit was good before the West lost the war for the airwaves. It is like the idiots that have negated all the shit that Pacs own inner circle and the actual streets recounting of shit on Pacs Death to place him at the center of an elaborate assassination that occurred right next to him. Fuck all the dumb shit if he was the super villain mastermind evil nation force yall make him out to be he never would have been in the car and Pac Dre and Snoop would have all been murked all mysteriously while he was safe somewhere else. Deathrows Success was a perfect Storm of Dre, Suge, Snoop and a strong team supporting them that has never been recreated they all fucked up and lost that because each did not continue to the part that originally made them successful together...

I'm not wishing more prison time on the dude but it seem like Suge was in way more dirt than 5 years worth. Of course I don't think he had Pac killed that would be foolish on many levels but shit just don't seem to add up bra. People say he was a great businessman...but I don't see it. No hate. Just don't see it.

Suge started out being a bodyguard for Mary J. Blige and Jodeci, that's why he has history with Diddy. Then he helped his friend that wrote "Ice Ice Baby", get his publishing and that's how we got that story about him hanging Vanilla Ice over the balcony. Then he was a bodyguard for D.O.C. and Dre at Ruthless and that's how we got that story about him bussing in the office demanding they let Dre out his contract. Suge should have just stayed as a bodyguard.

Gang life into the music, like in the raps.. or gang life as in bringing gangbangers into the industry?

Because for me always been a clear difference between hip hop and then gangsta rap... not sure if I am reading into this right.. Just how Juicy J brings me the "stripper music" lol

Someone had to fucking say it! Well said.

I can't find it now but I read a interview with Minster kody where he was talking about meeting suge in prison and saying that he wrote like a child. Basically said he was a smart dude but not book smart. And also that he didn't kill pac obviously.

I said in the other thread I would miss The Life And Times Of M Dot Knight if this nigga got life or died. Nigga got some hilarious quotes Lol.

How could you be from the ghetto and be a rat?

Suge Knight

When he got on stage and behind the podium he lit up a cigar and told the students and other guests:

"Don't listen to your Teachers because if they were that smart they would be running successful companies not teaching"

"Everyone in the Industry fukked Chili(TLC), she gets on her knees more than a nun in church"

.

Damn. Lol

Then he talked about how Usher tried to defend his girl (chili) and how he(suge) punked him.

Left Eye was reportedly fuckin Shug. A lot of people don't know that she signed with Death Row about 6 months before she died. Because of that reported relationship, one could conclude that Shug knew about Chille because Left Eye told him.

Someone behind death row was good at the business, who was it, cuz it sure as hell wasn't suge

Who did the marketing, promotion, concert reps, who did the accounting, budgeting, finances....

The niggas who decided to turn hip hop into a tool to aid in the destruction of black communities.

What people say about 2pac is a lil wrong.

2pac was already a Interscope artist. Him going to Death Row is how Game went to G-Unit - same shit. It's all under the same umbrella but for marketing purposes they move them to the hottest label. Also at the time Death Row practically became part of Interscope. Y'all have to know that Interscope wasn't a rap label. They had a few acts (2pac was one, Poetess was another) but that was later on. They got into red financially and Death Row became the saviour. So there was something like that to it..either they got some shares of Interscope or something, forgot what it is. But Interscope & Death Row really came hand in hand at the time, esp since Jimmy's long time partner had already left as Death Row came in..

So 2pac wasnt no "genius move". 2pac was an artist who lost all his backing cuz of his controversy and Death Row - with their own controversy & in a rebellious era (for fans) ate that up & used that. But it wasnt like 2pac was far away. They had no money to spend on him so why not move him to the hottest company, with the hottest artist, in the same lane..

But Suge was pose to controll the business while Dre the talent. But it got mixed and people got involved so it brew..why? Well, Suge is a college educated cat who had some experience in the biz and some connects to some street fellas who he became the front for.

All I read was the first page so idk if this has been said but I read somewhere that death row records had ties to the cia and had a couple agents on payroll.

Idk how true that is but it would explain a lot
