I don't think they look at it like 'Until we're married, we can fuck around on each other.'. It's more like 'Until we're married, there is no REAL commitment here besides a verbal one.'. But that that doesn't release them from keeping their word when they said 'We are now in a relationship and will be faithful to one another.'.
