after pac was gone

You know it's possible for more than one rapper to occupy the same space at the same time, you niggas act like there are a limited amount of spots in rap. By your logic DMX, Big Pun, 50,etc wouldn't have been popular if Pac was here.

jay released his best album in 96 when pac ruled and RD only went gold while pac double cd was going diamond

jay would hav no career or a career of going gold if pac was still alive

Horrible logic...Just horrible. Reasonable Doubt was not commercial..which is why it went Gold...

Illmatic was arguably the best rap album ever...but It Was Written sold more...

Jay got more commercial which is why he's selling more.

And like Lupe, ya'll might feel it's boring because most of his shit goes over your heads. You take what over the surface but fail to explore what's under.

Pac's first album didn't even go gold at initial release (sold gold later on).Why are you comparing a dude who dropped his first album to a dude who was 5 albums deep into the game? What does Pac have to do with Jay-z numerous hit songs and albums, you think mainstream America would of said Pac hated Jay-z so i am not gonna like Hard Knock Life, Empire state of mind, etc. Your logic is faulty as hell and you niggas need to stop acting like Pac was this demigod or something, dude didn't even have control of his own career thanks to Suge Knight.

possible

the game was have shaped out differently, butterfly effect

dmx and ja rule were def jams answer to a 2pac replacement, which is a known fact.....pac left a huge void and labels made many pac clones in the course of 14 years....when X blew up, he was compared to Pac so much that he got fed up and asked the interviewer at Rolling Stones not to mention his name anymore to him.

Ja took the comparison and loved it and cloned his entire image on pac to the point of rolling with Suge

50 was Dr Dre and Em's project, they made him out to be Pac on steroids, the "i got shot 9 times" shit and then the documentary on MTV with Sway "All Eyes On Me" where they talked about him being the next Pac....

If Jigga died in 2004, someJigga clone would have filled in his void

similar to how Shyne for a short period filled in bIGS void with the voice and bad boy affiliation

Pac dropped his album in a era where HIP HOP especially Gangsta Rap music was not doing big numbers..

Rappers like Pac set the bar in the mid 90's when it came to selling records...he made it cool for niggas like Jay to do big numbers....before Pac you'd have to where Hammer Pants or be a white guy called Vanilla Ice to sell 5 million in 3 months,

Jay dropped in a time when rappers were going 6 times plat.....he had BIGGY feature on two songs, video, who arguably was one of the biggest rappers on the planet, yet only did gold?

or he could be flopping like niggas who use to be popular back then (Wu, Meth, Snoop,Warren G, etc), you can't make assumptions and give people the benefit of the doubt.

RD was not commercial with BIGGY fuckin Smalls on his records?

the fuck

the reason they got BIG was to appeal to the commercial market

Its like an upcoming artists now having two Jay z features on his album and also a video with Jay...what would that do for theyre career?

Lol at a debut album "only" goin gold

Lol further at Pac "made it cool" to sell records

and biggie was only on one track, which wasnt even a single...

RD tried to be a commercial album however at the time nobody was feeling Jay, maybe due to his content or style of rap, the eastcoast shunned him.....

once biggy died, Jay stepped it up and found his commercial hit single and he hasnnt looked back since

anybody trying to make out RD was suppose to be some kind of underground vinnie paz album is a moron

Amerikkkas Most wanted, Predator, Death Certificate, Lethal Injection all went atleast platinum, The Chronic went 3 times platinum, Doggystyle went 4 times platinum, etc so i don't know what you're talking about.

Pac did not set the bar, his biggest selling album pre AEOM was double platinum, Biggie, Dre, Snoop,Warren G,etc were selling more records than him. Pac didn't really start doing big numbers until all the controversy and signing to Death Row, he drummed up alot of controversy to boost his career, he didn't strictly blow up off talent alone.

Biggie only featured on one song (BK Finest) on RD and that song wasn't even released as a single, the biggest single on RD was Dead Presidents (that went gold).

Just deal with the facts dude, you can try to demminish his accomplishments all you want, Pac aint gonna come back and it's not gonna make people like dude less. If you're gonna apply your faulty ass logic, do it for all of the rap game since 1996 not just Jay.

So you will deny Pac never opened the floodgates for hood niggas to do HUGE numbers without needing to make watered down, kid friendly rap music?

how many solo rap artists sold 5 mil in 3 months in and before 96, minus hammer and vanilla ice?

someone has to set the bar in a genre, pac most def opened some doors for many niggas back then including Jay.

in regards to Jay only going gold, shows he was not ready to conquer or in the same league as BIG or Pac, he crafted his style and stepped it up.....yeah he had lyrics, but his song game was not on the level of the two greats at the time..
