Let me put an end to this shit, All Black Music have soul. House music started off as disco, soul hits being speed up and extended so it can make the party last longer, just like hip-hop

Chicago House music have soul. Industrial music started in the UK by europeans

You're right Chicago House had soul, but House music without soul isn't industrial music. It's music that's closer to European style House/techno where the black influences were downplayed. Original Chicago house had industrial influences, and some of them had an industrial sound. For instance, Ron Hardy often sampled Industrial tracks along with sped up soul samples and disco samples at the Muzic Box in Chicago during the early 1980s. And Industrial music itself is influenced and inspired by Black Jazz musicians such as Coltrane and Miles Davis.

Soul sampling figures heavily on Yeezus just like it did for Chicago house musicians, especially on the album's best tracks such as "Blood on the Leaves," "New Slaves," and "Bound 2." This is why it makes far more sense that Kanye would draw on House music than someone like Timbaland or Dj Premier. His production style and aesthetic has relied on soul-sampling more than any other Hip-Hop producer in Hip-Hop except for maybe RZA (who produces for this album). It's only logical that early House music would be an inspiration, particularly as a Chi-town native.

What your lamenting is not the absence of soul-sampling, but the absence of melody , choruses and hooks. The only kind of melody this album has comes from its samples, but it uses the samples in a way that the songs themselves aren't particularly melodic. Early House music was the same way.

"If you want Late Registration Kanye West, this may not be the album for you," says Rosenberg. "If you want 808s & Heartbreak Kanye West—not the album for you. If you want My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy—not the album for you. If you want anti-establishment, angry-Black-punk-rock-fighting-the-system, then this is the album for you.”

-Peter Rosenberg

seems like Rosenberg (the jew) was right about most of what he said..

but what system is the nigga fighting with music like this?

Rosenbergs assessment seemed like he only listened to the first 4 songs and tunes out ... I didn't get a lot of punk rock fight the system vibe from this record

word Im on the same page, industrial music was the merge of electro aka electronic music and rock music that took elements from the avant -grade jazz of Coltrane, Sun-ra ect... and use the electronics as the avant grade use the saxophone.

I not lamenting on the absence of soul sampling, because soul is also in the deliverance of the singer and emcee which can make a song soulful for we all knew from the first album cuts and the producers on the album that the soul will be missing

You're right it doesn't have soul in that sense (neither does House). The only soul it has comes from its samples. I can understand if you want it be more soulful and/or melodic in terms of the role of the emcee or singer and the songs themselves. I completely understand how certain heads wouldn't like this album for that reason. I don't begrudge anyone for not liking this album.

smh.

this thread shows me who is musically incline and who just listen for the beat to drop.

not a terrible album because there are few gems. however, its very sloppy musically, the blends are horrible to the transition to the beat.

those mags are filled with hipster writers who think "new" shit is interesting.

this album isn't innovative, refreshing, or new. its mentally tiring to hear and dechiper because of the chaos he is going through personally.

Yeah alot of his transitions from the verses to the hook were abrupt as hell with no cohesiveness. As seasoned as dude is I know he couldn't of done that by mistake. I wonder what this nigga was trying to accomplish artistically with that bullshit.

my hype for the album went a little down..........this album sounds like he recorded it all last week. so its kinda dope in the sense that is spontaneous and indicative of how he's feeling right at this moment. Its not bad but no where near MDBTF, CD or LR, i also put it below Graduation. i feel like despite the press its NOT supposed to be a deep album. I give a grade of B.

A Kanye stage rant + the Jay Pharaoh Christmas Kanye spoof + Travis Scott = this album, if that makes sense
