Mostly agree. But any recognition of the role a father plays in a kids life will automatically come off as diminishing the role of the mother. So people wrote this shit off and attacked him as soon as the show aired.

I agree, it takes a man to raise a son to become a man, Crews didnt argue his case well tho. Mothers may think they did it on their own, but your sons were getting their guidance and learning the codes outside the house from either OGs or older cats in the streets.

Props to all the single moms out there but there are things inherently that dads can give kids that moms cant and vice versa.

He's on point and I like how he held his ground even when they tried to change his perspective. And I found it very interesting that Jenny McCarthy was the FIRST to speak for "single mothers". Feel me on this, single motherhood in the dominant society does not affect the dominant society as a whole. When we look at the black society, single motherhood (just keeping it 200% right now) actually affects us as a community. Because we do not have a economic or social base or backing due to the system that is implemented today, there is no protection from the outside obstacles that we face and not taught about from both parents perspective. So it leads to a cycle of miseducation, lack of self worth, even effeminization. So what I expected Terry to say to end that argument was a child needs BALANCE from both parents!!

yea the mom may get her son started...but the coaches give those boys their validation....they're a positive influence, they make a huge difference
and the moms want the same damn thing......my homeboy coaches youth league football,....single mom's throw soooooooo much ass at them it's ridiculous.....u know why...cuz they want a positive man in their lives too....
