Even if they don't carry guns, you still have to respect them for standing up against the government for what they feel to be unjust. Not that I agree completely with burning and looting, but there is more room to protest. I can respect that.
how we supposed to respect a mob that riots without reprecussions b? they aint got nothing to fear of course they wreck shop.
LA riots >> anything u willy wonka sounding ferrys do
One form of protest doesn't deserve more favor than the other. They're both rebelling against authority: people in London can't help the fact that cops don't carry guns. What they do have is the incentive to protest what they feel isn't right, which I can respect in any case, and this is coming from someone that has done protests regularly in the United States.
it takes more balls and intestinal fortitude to take a stand and put your life on the line
This point would also be more valid if I saw more people here protesting against the government and joining occupy movements against wall street and the government. But most Americans don't even do this on the regular or don't care to. So it doesn't make them much better, anyway, or in a position to compare. That's coming from a person who has worked with anarchists and socialists who protest all the time here.
so my point is not valid b/c a part of our society doesnt care? so every person in london cares?
I mean, you're acting like Americans are made hardcore with going against the government, when they really aren't, and probably haven't been since the 60s, realistically.
I'm not saying that the UK is better than the US in terms of protesting/expressing dissent, but there are a lot of things about people in England that I can respect. That reasoning was one of them. Just giving props where it is due.
