Will Jay ever make an album with the level of impact as MMLP?

The impact of MMLP is that it had different groups in a frenzy over the content and lyrics on the album. People were actually protesting against what was being said on the album. In that sense, the threadstarter has a point. There were gay activist and feminist groups protesting the album and Eminem.

Have millions of people discussing the music?
Have the critics constantly bringing the album up saying how great it is?
Have politicians trying to take the music off the shelves?
Influence people to copy your style?

How's that?

A lot of those things you mentioned were also because he was white. Just pointing that out. I mean politicians began to care about these lyrics because their kids looked like Em.

Who copied Em's style though? We can name a plethora of rapper's who have copied Jay's style or at least have been influenced by him. I can't really think of a good rapper out there who has been influenced or copied Em.

Disclaimer: I am not one of those Em haters that are on here.

Politicians have always had a watchful eye on Hip Hop, not just Em. Once the music affects the masses and politicians disagree, then it becomes an issue. Look at early Pac and NWA.

Copying someone's style has much more to do with influence than impact. For example, you'd possibly find more artists citing It Was Written as an influence more so than any other Nas album even though Illmatic had a greater impact overall.

So far it is lookin like Jay-Z is winning.

Blueprint was a game changer....and it was recorded in 3 days.

Jay isn't in competition with Em's albums.....Em delivers great verses....sometimes classic songs.....but album wise he ain't messing with Jay....MMLP proved that Em could sale more than the competition and that he wasn't gonna change because of the backlash he received from the SSLP......nobody thought he was serious competition with Nas and Jay by the time Stillmatic dropped......MMLP is solidly inferior in impact to Blueprint, Black Album....and my least fav Jay album Vol 2....MMLP is just Em's highest selling middle finger to white america....the album had some great songs......em's albums generally have little impact in hip hop......they generally only impact white america/pop music/mtv.....Eminem show was better

got a better question.....will Eminem ever make an album with the impact of a Blueprint, Black Album, Hard Knock Life or Blueprint 3 (how many 40 yr old emcees go platinum on an album where they acknowledge people call 'em a camel....lol....i know jay's haters gotta love that)?

what ya think?

lets see what all theses "ignorant" people define IMPACT is

do you beleive EM would be as big as he is today without the MMLP?

you can debate quality all day everyday.. thats a matter of OPINION

IMPACT... look it up

From a sales point it got more cough *white* cough people to buy a rap album......em is punk rock atitude mixed with some pac, kool g rap ( wack old legend? lol) and redman........his album got more publicity because em was saying outlandish things.......to just say them.....and that is what alot of Em's fans don't understand.......nobody screams faggot in hip hop just rile up a bunch of activists.....hip hop as culture doesn't respect his approach to that......Eminem is like a comedian at the Oscars....hip hop loves that he is edgy and they feel he is funny and technically really good...but he won't get the respect another emcee would because his approach to the craft at time mocks it's foundation.....MMLP is the epitome of what is ill about em and what isn't respectable about him from a HIP HOP standpoint.....from a POP Music point of view it had a big impact.....but are we hear to talk about Pop music? Nah

how was the BP any different from jays other albums? the BP was KANYE WEST blowin up...

i couan make a very good argument that KANYE WEST had more impact than JAy on the BP

MMLP proved more than just Eminem could sell units. It proved that he wasn't just a fluke and that he actually had some artistic merit. Whether or not he was in conversations with Jay and Nas by the time Stillmatic dropped is beside the point. Impact wise, it could be argued that MMLP is on par or greater than BP, TBA, or Vol. 2. The impact of MMLP is probably the best argument in defense of it being classic outside of moments like "Stan" and "The Way I Am". I mean, MMLP possibly was influential in Jay Z wanting "Renegade" for The Blueprint. That song is basically what Eminem defined himself as w/ MMLP.

MMLP is a concept album, that obviously went over some heads... really em's first three albums are a concept trilogy

go listen to the MMLP front to back

if your a student of hip-hop and it doesnt impress you

your a hater plain and simple

who was the more impressive MC EM on BP or Jay on BP.. or EM on MMLP. catch that?

the production on BP is on some GOAT level thats why its so praised..

the BP is a typical Jay album but it has his BEST production.. The MMLP beats are no where near the BP in quality

my point.?

the BP is hailed as a classic for its production just as much as jays songwriting MC ability..

the MMLP is hailed as a classic for EMinems contribution moreso than the production
