Wow @herbalism101... Dope drop.

I believe in this culture you gotta deal with dualities of different identities anyway. Tupac, Nas are prime examples.

a dualistic mindstate is dysfunctional tho. its called cognitive dissonance.

Well...that's just about....give or take... 85-90% of the artists in this game.

and it aint they fault... mostly. its some dysfunction got passed after the civil rights era to the pioneer generation and the industrialization of rap arrested the development of hip hop thus you have emotionally, mentally and socially immature rappers whose content, allbeit some are well-meaning disperses and duplicates this mindstate to varying degrees depending on the listener and the level of civilization to the artists .

i think the ability to be in that 15-10% margin you mentioned is what should separate the emcees from the rappers and the professionals from the amateurs. the art in and of itself is from noble origins- a revered profession and held to be beneficial to the people the griots were part of. they were paid according to how what they spit enriched the people. a big part of the griot tradition was storytelling poems/songs, educational ones and ones telling the history and current events of the tribe. this enhanced their culture. its sacred. i dont care what cats say... a pm dawn would be more in line with that than a krs one. look how the aggression and violence is literally consuming generation after generation. i welcome fucking hippies. its all energy in the end. energy filtered through cognitive dissonance can only create dischord in the ends. emcees are the real life fucking book of eli but every body got they own book, shit need to be taken seriously like that. if a rapper gone teach then live that breathe that. if not dont go claiming u the essence and foundation cuz studies have shown they aint about that life

rap is too fucking powerful to only be governed by money and a fabricated image/"character"... thats why its so destructive to the bearers of that power off they square. dont nobody die, get shot and locked up more than rappers out of any other genre ever existed. its been around long enough and niggas been in the public eye so we can connect the dots betwwen the things they say and do and the ripple effect of tragedy befalling them...

and its not seen because tied in with that cognitive dissonance is a narcissistic complex that rap got stuck at.. if people consider hiphop a culture or themselves hip hop they are highly vulnerable to being influenced by that narcissistic mode..

It's feminine energy hip-hop should stay masculine it just needs to mature hippy dipppy half of a faggot music/energy is not wanted in hiphop. hip-hop has always been connected to the streets and will stay that way, Rap is not like any other music so don't expect it to be, it's artist are from very bad places and some of that negativity will come out in the music.

Krs-1 is teaching his philosophy but it seems you don't want to understand that

being peaceful is feminine? the nigga came out with songs about CHICKS.. HETEROSEXUAL POP LOVE RAPS. De La Soul had daisies and shit on their album cover. Are they feminine? Yet ASAP Rocky and all these niggas running around with skinny jean yeast infections are cool? Nigga you gay. Its ALLWAYS been feminine energy in the mix. WHat kind of straight male wants to just wallow in FALSE ass masculinity. That street shit is not masculine nigga. Thats a bunch of homotional niggas with a hyper masculine coping mechanism made from having an absentee father. A bunch of niggas with the emotional profile of women and pistols with a handful of genuine sociopaths thrown in the mix. Im from a very bad place muthafucka. You cant talk that street shit to me..nigga I was homeless in the streets at 11 robbing muthafuckas to eat...literally. Brains been spilled on me b4 I was double digits. Thats why I make music and do things that are totally the opposite of the ugly death and violence I had to grow up with. Theres no fucking honor in wallowing in that shit. Music is music. Its either good or bad.

All them niggas are suspect to me from de la soul to asap rocky. I reject your deposit. the general spirit of hip-hop needs to be masculine not saying we can't have soft music but any sound resembling pm dawn is going overboard.

I never said the street shit was masculine i said it was always part of hiphop and that hip-hop needs to mature, not turn into hippy music so learn to fucking read.

Nigga you have no clue. First of all, De La Soul are certified head bussas. How you in New York and don't know that? One of their biggest songs is about having a fuck "Buddy", stupid. Thats an intricacy of a heterosexual lifestyle thats pretty hard to come up with out the blue.

Nigga what Im saying is you aint even producing a solid definiton of masculinity besides the opposite of P.M. Dawn apparently which is not even close to touching the aspects of what a measure of a man is. What is masculine to you? 9 times out of 10 your answer will be some shit that reflects a distorted view born from degenerate Amerikkkan culture.

That street shit is killing the youth which is my main fucking point for planning and executing this series of threads. The elements of hip-hop are turntablism, b-boying, emceeing, tagging and the 5th element is knowledge ( of Self not self...which is Exhibit D ). Streets are no where in that. The people who started it were out there CLEANING UP THE STREETS in the aftermath of all that poison Lucas and Barnes flooded the streets with. The people who created the term DID NOT include "the streets" as an element of hip-hop. And you know what started the path to even giving it defintion? BAM GOING TO AFRICA....NOT THE "STREETS"

That being said, if there are authentic voices from the street presenting material with social and/or artistic value then whatever. Whether a studio gangster or studio teacher.. inauthentic voices are NOT hip-hop because a true emcee is authentic above all else.

" THe streets" as defined by old white Jews who determine and distribute mainstream content are not working too fucking well for our people.. its some coon shit. Only an ignoramus would not see that something is inherently wrong for the collection of artistic expressions known as hip hop to have global influence and be able to make billions in advertisement and endorsement revenue- YET its the soundtrack of destruction for the same people it comes from... and a only a few dudes are SOMEWHAT eating. You an old Cypher type nigga... "I know the steak aint real but...." looking ass nigga...

I don't give a fuck what they are certified as their music was not to my taste and their image was wack nowhere near pm dawn level of wackness but wack none the less. LISTEN if you don't know what i mean by masculine at this point in your life i can't help you. I am not fucking american just to let you know.

I never said the streets were an element of hiphop but clearly the streets did influence the growth and development of those elements and continue too do so and cannot be 100% divorced from the art.

Yo don't worry exhibit D right now work on exhibit B nigga

while you are at it fix exhibit A because it's argument is faulty as fuck.

I know what masculinity is... I asked because you come off like you equate it with aggression and that Western warrior-fag macho mythos.

Nigga you got Americanized.... is this what the ancestors visioned the griot would ressurect as? Corporate owned ass clowns with little to no accountability to the people? False teachers with half-ass lessons? Your values are American... youre American. KRS forgot his roots. People in the yard dont just be talking to be talking. Like Mutabaruka. A real teacher. And I dont agree with some of the shit he say. We met him though. He walks like he talk 1000% cause his heart is with the people not in his pride or in his pockets. Ashanti boboman stylie pickney... Not this meaningless bullshit. This is the only culture that has bred musical forms that mean NOTHING in real life....

Masculinity is more than just the warrior mentality it's caring for the weak, defending your woman and most importantly guiding the young it's done strongly it's not soft, weak and passive or overly gentle.

Hip-hop has not breed much in the outside world as compared to the culture of the past because it does not exist by itself. No i have not been americanized i am very connected to my culture. there are a lot of artist labeled hip-hop that should be called pop.

I agree with that definition. Yet the hip-pop music of today espouses the exact OPPOSITE of those tenets. That is born out of FUNDAMENTAL FLAWS that the gatekeepers allowed. Its not about the lowest points within the hip-hop realm .... its about the high points not being as high as they seem. Rebuilding would put those high points of the hip-hop spectrum spill over in a fashion as extreme and intense as the spillover from the low end of crap rap...
