Why is there such a big distortion between the real world and the IC?

i was a teenager when reasonable doubt came out...now i'll admit it made almost NO impact when it first came out, 6 months to a year later niggas really got on it and it got major play. maybe its just in my real life circle, but most ppl i know regarded it as a classic since at least 98, 99.....

All Eyez On Me, Me Againist The World & The 7 Day Theory Album's are better than any Jay Z Album

2pac was a far better Song Writer than Jay Z and actually had content in his Lyrics with emotion but also 2pac made Hit's he had Song's that reached number One on the Chart but for the most part 2pac was a talented Writer while Jay Z is just a Rapper with a decent Flow

Snoop didnt push the envelope musically as much as the other albums......but it had so much impact off the cd that its classic alone.....

Classic albums tend to be "Events"........shit you say "damn, I remember when".......and how it had an affect on hip hop......doggystle did......... however, Reasonable doubt had no affect on hip hop in any way, on record or off record......if you like that album, cool, I like it too, but it wasnt an "Event" like these other albums were....no chain reactions.....nothing...it was just a good album........

giving reasonable doubt the classic status is like the NBA going and giving Kobe the rookie of the year award in 96 cause he won 4 championships later on in his career.......

Damn If I have not said a lot of these things a 1000 times, even from a industry standpoint anyone with any non biased position Knows that making Reasonable Doubt a "Classic" is revisionist history and done because Jigga is Now the Black Face of HipHop, while then he was not remarkable and did not standout amongst his peers...

Reasonable had to change the way we live, how we eat, sleep, blink our eyes? Come on now, not every album had to create world peace and stop world hunger for it to be "classic". Reasonable Doubt is a classic because of its strong content and replay, thats it.

Reasonable Doubt's content is based on being a drug dealer which isn't strong content it is pretty simple

Replay value wise i can't say i listen to this Album or know people that actually play it

But i know dudes that live in some of the most notorious Housing Estates out here (Projects for Americans) that not only bump Eminem they actually actually own his records and don't think twice about bumping him and these ain't people not affiliated with the hood lifestyle either they are small time/mid level trappers

So to an extent of course certain IC posters aren't realistic cos i witnessed things H Rap, Fazeem, Genstasia, Jamaica say that don't happen

I swear to god i never heard anyone in the hood here bump Reasonable Doubt or Illmatic but people do bump The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP & The Eminem Show

People will laugh at you if you even mention Joe Budden here no one ever will even think about listening to him and i am talking about black people who hustle green and white and are from the hood

Very true, To this day I still hear people bumping "Life After Death", "All eyez on me", "The Chronic", "OB4CL", I've even heard "Paid in Full" being bumped on one occassion. But I have yet to walk/drive down the street and hear ANYBODY listening to 'Illmatic' or 'Reasonable Doubt'. Never rly was that big a fan of RD, but I personally love 'Illmatic'. But how can you call an album an unquestionable classic if the maority of rap fans don't even listen to it?
