To answer the title question, because some people believe he's exploiting a culture for some sort of publicity.

I believe this brother is truly studying the rasta way of life. I mean a year or two ago he was studying with NOI.

This man is just on his path/journey, but being that he's a celebrity, there will be cameras involved.

I highly doubt it's all about smoking, although that would be a plus.

Hes progressively gotten worse and worse since his debut, will throw a few suprises out there like Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, and some of R&G. But the older he gets the more experimental he goes and the wacker it becomes. the reason people love him is because he is Snoop Dogg. They love Doggystyle. It's like asking a person who found money on his way to work to go find it again by taking the same road. Music are about moments, emotions and spontaneity. Maybe if Snoop didn't stumble across a movie one day that gave him a certain topic to rap about maybe we wouldn't have gotten "Murder Was The Case" for instance.

The issue is many people weren't born or were around when certain artist dropped albums that we talk about now years later wanna live through it too. Problem is music doesn't work like that. Maybe if the impact of a "Doggystyle" or any other album wasn't as big people wouldn't have liked it as much? So no matter if he did that shit no one would support, people would watch it flop and then come up with all kinds of excuses why it did other than blaming the fans themselves, people would say that he fell off and it don't sound like the old days and so on.

Take Raekwon's "OB4CL 2", as much as some like it alot of people said that shit with it too. People complained and complained about this feature or that feature, why this or that producer is there instead of a whole RZA production and so on. People just wanna live through moments they missed so much that they want literally everything to be exactly the same and "pure", which is impossible with anything.
