But hip-hop fans didn't buy Nelly's album.

Show me the numbers during that beef that hip hop didn't buy Nelly's album because from that logic, it look like hip hop don't support krs

alright then homie. you win, i guess. I love how just because ppl in hip hop dont like something its"not hip hop". Like it or not nelly is hip hop, soulja boy is hip hop, waka flaka is hip hop, gucci is hip hop. Its ALL hip hop. Maybe not the best hip hop, but hip hop never the less. So again you win, i guess.
that's just it.. whether krs thinks something is hiphop or not.. it's still his opinion.. i'm starting to think they stopped teaching this word & it's meaning as evidenced by how many people get bent outta shape on this site over what other people think...

i understand goin' @ the one guy real hiphop heads would love to see you battle... it just reeks of attention whoring to me. lol @ krs not responding & in essence robbing dude of what is most likely his last chance @ gettin' on.. the fact is, people diss jay all the time to get attention & he doesn't respond as a way of stoppin' them dead in thier tracks.. wheres all this outrage then??

I am a hip-hop purist......now that i got that out of the way, Nelly beat Krs........"first rapper to get a pension/no hits since the cordless mic invention" >>>>anything Kris said in his disses to Cornell, and with that being said Krs has had a bigger impact on the culture and has more classic records.

But Krs lost that battle,Nelly spit facts.Just because Nelly had crossover hits Krs thought he was gonna turn it into a "underground" vs "mainstream" thing and it didn't work !

Canibus always sounds like that emcee who has to prove himself. Always sounds like his feelings are hurt. He is going at KRS,though over a bullshit BEEF DVD where he seems to be siding with LL laughing at Canibus. He does tell Canibus "Go for Yours" though. How long ago did this track drop ? Because if it's over a year, that's sad to hear no response but then again, this is the 1st time I truly heard someone mention this track !!

Rap is not an art form that you sit and read. I think people forget that.
The way it flows and how it's delivered and how it gels with the beat - it all matters.

In that battle, KRS-One sounded like the guy on the playground that gets joked on real hard one time, then tells a billion jokes in response, but it just doesn't have the same sting as the joke that got him. To be honest, I laughed when I heard Nelly's lines and practically fell asleep listening to KRS's multiple responses. Nelly made him look silly in interviews as well.

With that said, their whole beef was dumb and pointless. No one really did anything impressive (except Nelly for standing up to the big bad bully, but neither of them really went in).

My point is this, krs went at nelly first. THere is no comparison between the two lyrically, im not even going there. He called dude out and dude responded more forcefully then i thought he would. THEN krs goes on to drop THREE tracks directed at dude when dude dropped like half a verse that wasnt all that. Jay doesnt go out and pick on some lesser opponent and get into a full fledged beef, but then when a well respected top notch lyricist comes for his head, then he sits mute. He just doesnt respond to anybody, period. If it would have been that way from jump and nelly took shots at him and he didnt respond then you could make that comparison. and on nellys #1 track the line you quoted was "Im tired of people judgin whats real hip hop, most the time them be the niggas who album flopped, you know boat done sank and it aint left the dock" That CLEARLY aint Krs one dude. Either way Krs Responded to nelly and he aint responding to bis, there is the outrage, cuz after all this is hip hop and that is Krs one right?

based on what I know of "real" hip-hop fans, I'd want ALL the fake ones since all the artists that "real" hip-hops fans love be going triple linoleum when their albums drop.
them fake fans be putting they artists on top. if not via records sales, via ring tones or 99cent single money.

oh, and as for the topic, i got Canibus beating KRS if it came to it, but not by a landslide.
i think KRS would step his game up for the battle and his mic presence and delivery is better,
but ALL Bis does is spit battle rhymes. Like...that is his life, son.

KRS can't beat dude's life, yahmean?

@ bolded, powerful cosign post.

Its pretty clear Krs is in fear to battle Bis, since Krs = Hip Hop & he was so quick to diss Nelly. why when a supreme lyricists get at him, he tucking his tail & running. because dude is a coward until he respond

So now we're gonna determine who counts as a real hip hop fan now?

Put it this way - look at the sales of that album vs. the sales of Nelly's last album.

Somewhere along the lines these fickle "fans" moved on to something else. KRS one doesn't sell a shitload of records but for the most part he never did. His fans are his fans, not just fans of whatever happens to be hot at the moment.

People that buy records of artists that are currently popular are pop music fans. People that buy records of hip-hop artists they like are fans of hip-hop. I never said anything about "real" hip-hop and you'll probably never hear me use that phrase.

canibus called him on his bullshit and he still aint respond but he will pick on nelly when nelly wasnt dissing him in no way
krs recognises after being inthis shit since 86 that some people are out for fame & some actually have a beef to settle.. again, maby i missed it but what got cannibitch'es panties inna wad in the first place?... or is this the point were we all admit that this hissy fit is but a last chance attempt at the fame [& infinitely more important (which i might add he said he wasn't in it for)... financial stability] that has incredibily (by, i'm sure... all streches of the imagination of more than a few posters here who'll remain nameless)] that has managed to illuded him thus far... has driven him to pick a fight with a hiphop elder over a difference of opinion on def jam?

or... could the most horrible thought lurking in the darkest corner of your mind be true..

that he's just testing the one MC whos been here the longest based on the sheer support of fan fair (like hiphop was meant to be) to attract the attention of ARs who been got his latest email & youtube link & DON'T GIVE A FUCK BECAUSE BATTLING DOESN'T PAY A RECORD COMPANIES LIGHT BILLS.

No one wants any part of Bis if you could say Bis excls at one and only one thing everyone would pick that one thing being his lyricism his song writing..... nope flow...... ew but his lyricism is deadly as fuck and that could transfer to a diss record that could destroy who ever hes getting at..... so no one wants it with Bis... besides Eminem because he wins by default.
