Big L was GOAT on my top 5 list at one point.. but as time goes by he slipped down to top 5. He is too ill with the punches. Dude was on some jaw dropping shit and than his posse cuts with Children of the Corn(underrated like a mutha) were so fucking dope.

Ear for beats, charisma, voice, replay value, diverse subject matter, emotion, mic presence are all some of the other important criterias to fulfill besides being able to write good lyrics. Big L pretty much got his style from Lord Finesse, who is for some reason obscure by now and forgotten while Big L has gotten so much attention due to his death, he is almost mainstream. Of course if Lord Finesse had died, it would've been the reverse situation.
