Big L was GOAT on my top 5 list at one point.. but as time goes by he slipped down to top 5. He is too ill with the punches. Dude was on some jaw dropping shit and than his posse cuts with Children of the Corn(underrated like a mutha) were so fucking dope.

your a idiot for thinking calling my real name is a diss lol and second fukk outta here hip hop is based off lyricism for the most part u dumb homo so go eat a dikk or something.

Shitty comeback. I never even used your name as an insult, Ronnie, so stop making up bullshit. Running it in reverse, who are you to tell others what hip-hop is based off? It didn't even start out as a "lyricist" genre. It was just party music and not until Rakim there wasn't no "lyricism" talk. I wonder what would be most important if multis hadn't entered the genre now.

Yeah, you're a lyricist so what? There's more things to fulfill. Ear for beats, charisma, voice, replay value, diverse subject matter, emotion, mic presence are all some of the other important criterias to fulfill besides being able to write good lyrics. How many times do you jerk off to multis a day, Ronnie?

And usmarin3 is pretty much on point. Big L pretty much got his style from Lord Finesse, who is for some reason obscure by now and forgotten while Big L has gotten so much attention due to his death, he is almost mainstream. Of course if Lord Finesse had died, it would've been the reverse situation.

only those 2 r better den L

Scarface >>>

He may not be a "lyricist" in the sense of spitting punchlines or multis one after the other, but his storytelling skills can be matched by only few (Slick Rick, G Rap, Ice Cube, Nas...) and the emotion he puts into his words is only touched by Pac. Not to mention he's had a much more diverse catalog in terms of subject matter compared to most other rappers out there.

Big L doesnt have enough material. 1 album and a posthumous album mixed with new and old verses isnt gonna cut it.

If you wanna call him a top 5 lyricist thats cool. He's a NY/ East Coast legend regardless.

Big L is not even in my top 50 and I don't have a top 50. Another boring rapper who is overrated on the internet.

He was one of the greatest PUNCHLINERS but that's it, Big L has no classic music that left an impact on the world. Much love to his memory but it's like he didn't have much significant material out there.
