The definition of real hiphop must be "real" hiphop, thats not made up. Wouldnt that be fake hiphop? Real must be the root of what its core purpose is and we know it was a means to express when it began. I dont see much expressing going on and the listeners just ignoring are no better for accepting this.

Yeah... I definitely hear you on those..but I have one problem....

It's not that they're whack. It's that you probably didn't have to go

Find any of those artist... They are practically spoon fed to you.

When was the last time you heard of someone you've never SEEN

BEFORE?? And you formulated your OWN opinion and liked that artist??

(This happen to me yesterday)

I clearly said its not about the topics of music, party, gangsta etc. Its has nothing to do with that. Its about quality and if you think the term real hiphop is dumb you must be slow or crazy young. Hiphop can only be one style just as classical or pop can only be one style. They can merge but never can be one another for sure. Pop artist express themselves, Rock artist as well but that's not hiphop, i'm sure you agree. The point is, much of the stuff out there being called hiphop is not hiphop at all.

maily because most of the fans these days don't know the difference between real hip-hop and commercial rap and are too hard headed to listen to someone who tries to school them on it. Just how it is. times changed and expectations are much different.

^^So true.

Calii Comfort;1966413 said:
good music is good music just because some rappers refuse to read out of a dictionary doesn't make them a bad rapper. dont wear the back pack straps so tight sir

Yeah, make all the excuses you want about good music is good music bullshit. The fact of the matter is that shit ain't hip hop.

ABeat;1966424 said:
You're right on that! The corporate labels have so much control on the media and stuff that you do have a hard time sorting good from the other, they dont even promote artist properly anymore unless they crazy big. They control all the crazy stuff we see and determine whats hot when we all know damn well they not! Before you know it everyone brainwashed into the diluted stuff because we cant find the real people to choose from.

Their is a whole catalogue of errors in that cycle. Firstly, you allow corporate labels to define hip hop for you. Secondly, you got a whole bunch of rappers who sellout the culture for money. Thirdly, you got the fans who dickride these artists and keep them popular. So the labels keep churning out these disposable trash rappers and the cycle continues.

I'm years ahead on this. My TV watching is very very very limited but its not about that its about knowing real vs fake and I'm starting to believe when it comes to hip hop people have gotten so wrapped up in what they are being fed they cant even tell anymore what the real stuff is. Hip-hop is defined to me about authenticity and many of these "RAPPERS" who claim it dont have a ounce of this trait . They more like actors. Yeah, I'm gonna start calling them "actors" instead, makes it more clear because they throwing the term hip-hop and rap around so loosely.

Lol, that's exactly what I think, these dudes are trained actors. Debates like this always make me think of this track.

but there is no such thing as real hip hop and fake hip hop, just good music and bad music and even then that shit is subjective and we have to deal with the fact that the standards are now lowered. emcees dont have to have any real skills just as long as they are charismatic, have "swag", have some sort of past background, or is a walking gimmick and has a decent enough flow/delivery, and they get top notch beats you will more than likely have a career.

Why do people always go on with the excuse good music and bad music. Theirs hip hop music good and bad and then theirs some other shit thats not even close to being hip hop that fans support thinking it's the real deal but it simply ain't. If you want to listen to that shit then that's ok but don't try and insult peoples intelligence calling it hip hop, that shit's wack. Why do we have to deal with and accept low standards? Is all that shit you mentioned acceptable to you? Smh mister Jamaica, shame on you.

Rap is entertainment, it can be gangsta, it can be about a party, it can be deep, it could be anything man, stop tryin to make up yo own definition of what rap is, itwas made to entertain

Yet another bullshit excuse, "Rap Is Entertainment" That expains it then, it's ok to be wack and unoriginal it's just entertainment. Damn.

because these so called hiphop listeners are just a bunch of starstruck little girls who believe everything they see on tv. They mistake album sales for talent, and are scared to form their own opinion, instead, they just follow trends. Why else do you think nicki minaj can have succes??

You my friend are 100% correct.

That's part of the problem right there, fans accept that shit instead of raising the bar, sad really.

You can't just disqualify wack artists from a genre because they're wack. That's like saying Matt Flynn isn't real Packer because he's the second string quarterback. LOL

There's good hip hop and there bad hip hop....but it's all hip hop whether you like it or not. Waka Flocka is hip hop just like Talib Kweli is hip hop.

But when you look at it alot of ppl would say that 50 ain't "quality hip-hop" either. I mean it ain't like dude had dope rhymes or anything.

So my point is who's to say what good and bad hip-hop is?

Nigga please. Why can't you leave everyone else alone and just listen to what you like? Just because you don't like it don't mean it aint hiphop. You ain't no better than anybody else just because of the hip-hop music you listen to.

Lol, of course your allowed an opinion, just like I am. Nobody told you what to listen to. Lol, at backpackers, what you gonna try and label me now???

I can imagine people who dickride commercial artists really feel this way but they want to follow trends like sheep.

Again, am I allowed an opinion? Hip hop is a culture and you speak of it as if it were similar to pop or any other genre of music. Their are elements to hip hop and Wacka and others like him in my opinion don't represent it. Just because them dudes hold a mic, don't make them hip hop.

You can listen to whatever music you want, that is your choice. I don't pass an opinion to make people listen to what I listen to, I pass an opinion because that's how I feel.
