"South = More Musically inclined/involved than Northern music, goes for jammin songs, dance music as well
North = More Lyric driven, less musically inclined, goes for shock and grittiness"
The real question is why is Southern Hip Hop more diverse than east coast Hip Hop? Its like 1200 sub-genres of Southern Hip Hop.
South more musically inclined which explains why we invented every other form of African American music
North less musically inclined which would explain why Whiteskins gravitate towards it, no rhythm, and you know they wanna romanticize about the "shocking and gritty" realities of the "ghetto" that east coast rappers talk about

Less Musically inclined? Dude wake up. Hip Hop was birthed in NY every aspect of it. 1200 sub genres that all sound the same. Same tired ass 808 drop with a 16th hi hit and rolling snares.
Whether you want to call them sub genres or not. I will share this with you.
NY MC's created Harmonizing. Cold Crush, Crash Crew, Force MD's
NY MC's created Shit talking. Bizzy B, Cowboy
NY MC's Created Socially Conscious MCing. Melle Mel, KRS
NY MC's Created Story Telling. Spoonie G, Kool Moe D Slick Rick
NY MC's created Party MCing. Slick Rick Dougie Fresh,
Philly Came in with. PSK by Schooly D. (Ice T made 6 in morn off of this Blueprint)
Philly Came with Steady B, Cool C. ( they brought a more flashy fly feel to Hip Hop)
I could go on and on with this. The point here is none of it sounded the same. I'll share a lil more.
Kane didn't KRS, KRS didn't sound like Slick Rick, Slick Rick didn't sound like g rap, G rap didn't sound like Rakim.
Tribe didn't sound like EPMD, EPMD didn't sound like P.E. P.E. didn't sound like Das EFX and so on and so forth.
Southern MC's where never this diverse in sound and certainly not subject matter.
Cali even has a more diverse sound and artists. You can go from Snoop, NWA to Heiro, E-40 to exhibit and they are all polar opposites. I don't think you know what you are talking about.
