The theory of evolution does not say we came from monkeys/apes/orangutans/or any primate around today. It proposes that humans, monkeys, apes and orangutans came from the same ANCESTOR. As for the whole argument of 'well, why did we stop evolving?' well, we haven't. Snakes still have vestigial leg bones. Whales have hip bones. A certain species of moth has, over time, changed color to match its now polluted surroundings.
