That's the attitude that a lot of people have period, and it's the wrong one. But we in the south notice it so much more coming from northerners towards us. Like they feel this need to tell us how wack they think our whole way of life is. And a lot of times, they form this opinion without really even knowing what they're talkin about. They just pick a few artists they hear on the radio, or see on t.v., and think that's the best the south has to offer. No, that's just the niggas who made it, for whatever reason. And even then, they can't seem to understand that those mainstream artists still make catchy relatable songs, however lyrically deficient they may be. Just cause you don't get it, doesn't mean my taste is bad, or I'm slow, or that you're superior to me. It just means you don't get it. If you don't wanna get it, cool. But just let that be that, don't try to tell me I'm wrong, or my region is talentless.
I hear ya bruh... but as an East Coast cat that's been around since the beginning of hip hop (sugar Hill Gang, Kurtis Blow, GMF, GW Theodore, etc) I do have a bias towards my home base. But I think we all do and that's cool. We all have different tastes and opinions. But it's when people say shit like "Rakim is wack" and the "East Coast ain shit" is when you know that even tho the culture has spread sooo far that facts and history don't matter. Sure you can like Wacka but if you can't appreciate those that created the art, what can you appreciate?
