Its not that we care what y'all think, its just that niggas like me wish some of the rappers up north would concentrate on making music instead of trying to critique everyone else's. I do not wish to see the eastcoast fall, in fact in hurts my soul that my future son may not have an eastcoast artist like Nas to listen to. I appreciate the eastcoast, NY especially because my first taste of hip-hop came from that area. Yea they've been hating on other regions for awhile, but they always had good music to back it up with. Not so much these days. Case in point Lil Kim can critique Nikki all day but she will not release any music to compete to show why she is the superior artist. 50 will make claims that he can end someone's career but when challenged from a musical standpoint all he does is make Pimpin Curly videos. My point is that the hate coming from the eastcoast is more recognizable than ever before because there is no music being produced with it. The eastcoast is stuck in the past. Past accomplishments are fine but when that's all you have to offer the game then you either need to move aside or pass the teachings on to the next generation. Why should anyone care what the eastcoast says about hip-hop when they themselves are damn near the worst at making it these days? And its not just other regions, to be honest the eastcoast hates itself. Y'all don't get along with eachother so why would it be surprising that y'all don't like anyone else? Another stunning fact is that even the more lyrical rappers are no longer coming from the eastcoast. So what exactly is it that the eastcoast (NY especially) offers to the game today beside criticism and history lessons from has beens?

StillDreaming;1637718 said:
That still doesn't negate the fact that the eastcoast is on its deathbed because the rappers up there are more concerned with calling errbody else shit wack instead of getting in the studio and creating an up to date eastcoast sound. If you read my essay you can see I have love for the eastcoast. Once upon a time I listened to way more NY hip-hop than southern hip-hop. But I love it enough to admit the problem. The south has wack shit too but we also have a LOT of good shit as well. The eastcoast is just mostly wack shit now, and what kills me is that alotta y'all up there seem to be OK with that. If hip-hop had been left in the eastcoast's hands it woulda been dead years ago. Like honestly besides Jay and Nas who else do y'all have right now?

Ether in its most concentrated form...

do you mean collaborations or compliation albums? if it's the former that's pretty easy to refute...

Could not read all these pages but from what I see, there is hate everywhere. I see people hating on East Coast in this thread just chiming in with no merit. Im the first to admit that the East Coast in my eyes is more homogeneous then ever. Its just like everything else now, where as in the past you had the Tribe Called Quest, G Raps, Biz Markie, etc.

The biggest thing is that their is an unseen hand that has been forcing Hip Hop into a baby art form. I think this is evident from the bubble gum trash thats on the radio. It just happens to be that this kinda of rap was prominent in the South when it was being pushed. So when you had the Laffy Taffy which was later imitated everywhere it was like everybody with a higher hip hop IQ spoke out just think more boisterous out of NY.

Far as music goes, there is good music coming out of everywhere. But what program directors do is play the same thing over and over again. It sells and then something with substance cant get the light of day. Lets face it the hip hop community now is desensitized to dumb, ultra violent, ultra lavish lyrics. So thats whats on the radio. Period.

Stop the hate everywhere. This spills over into real life when I hear dudes like "look at that NY A$$ dude"...... Its sick lol.

compilation albums? like the ones that are used as promotion by record labels and magazines or sold on commercials late at night? or do you mean mixtapes?

sorry but i don't think there's even very many east coast only compilation albums. that's kinda obscure.

New York is comfortable with rappers with zero work ethic and arrogance. New York doesn't even support its own artist yet it complains that folks like Wacka Flocka is popular and gets fans. New York was like any other coast they had diverse music. ATCQ De La Soul werer pioneers but they weren't the only rappers using boom bap rappers from every coast did it. They were special but to put them on a ridiculous pedestal only leads to stagnation since everybody is looking back at the past and not looking forward to the future. You don't drive your car looking back why should you drive your career looking back. New York is the originator of the whole imma get this money and sell out. Wu-wear,Roca-wear,Wu video games, Def Jam Video Games, Liquor deals ,Run DMC Adidas,Jay Z Reebok ATCQ Sprite De La Soul Nike SB Dunk, Ruff Ryder clothing Nas Fila. You all complain about commercializing and selling out yet your most prominent and critically acclaimed rappers and leaders are the ones who pioneered the commercialization hell they wanted. New Yorkers love to say they hustlers and they are go getters. Well your ruthless quest for money and fame led to destruction of OUR culture. You all brought hip hop into this world and you all killed it. All coast should be held accountable for harming the hip hop culture but you played a larger role than most. How do you all create something and then destroy it your record labels created the demand for the pop catchy songs. Def Jam is not from Atlanta and Bad Boy Records is not from New Orleans .You all created the shiny suits the big chains, the fancy cars, the all louis vuitton this rappers. To blame the current state of hip hop on any other coast is ridiculous. You all set hip hop down this path a long time ago. Be a Father to your child. Wacka Flocka has more in common with DMX and Onyx than he does with Cee Lo or Big Boi.

This seems to be a personal issue with you.

Coons?? Niggas?? Crackheads?? Pookies?? Damnfools??

Your emotion and passion is adorable, it reminds me of my nephews when they are playing N.B.A Live.

You can post a million mugshots & videos but you cant post a single resolution or discuss solutions, which makes you no more valuable than Flava-Flav, and just as worthless as Wacka Floka.

Your paragraph on Shyne was a good read, very articulate.

(Props for being able to do this "all day long", Ill drop my 2-cents when Im not busy)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1st of all are denying the fact that ol' dirty was a coon, or that flavor flav is a fool, or that dmx is a crackhead??? what part of that stament is factualy incorecct?

i guess when you get smacked in the face with reality, logic, and facts all you can do is come with some goofy shit. thats expected from haters who are allergic to the truth.

as far as solutions it starts by reclaiming whats left of hip-hop. if dudes would stop prostituiting themselves and going pop just to get on mtv things would get better. real shit died along time ago and too many are making too much off the fake shit (ie puff, jigga, and allother commercialized ass niggas). and if the old guys(wu-tang) would be honest with the youngsters and tell the truth then we wouldnt have souljah boy's or "murder" LOL mase type clowns in the future. we wouldnt have another generation of bafoons following in flavor flav and ol' dirty bastatrds footsteps. somebody somewhere has to put down their ego, stop hating, and TELL THE TRUTH!!! no one has told the truth and been held accountable since pac died. since then its been a bunch of old niggas competing for the pop, crossover, 14-25 y/o white demographic. no one has told the truth in years!!!. there is no leadership in hip-hop. every1 is following the gay-z/puffy model of money at all cost no matter how much you have been compromised.

since ny loves to brag about creating hip-hop and being the fathers of the game at what point will they take responsibility for the bullshit they gave birth to? if niggas were real about stopping the bullshit flavor of love wouldnt have been on tv for so long. flav revitalized his entire career and in a sick sense breathed life into the careers of all of these old school 1980's rappers. no1 in nyc said anything. in the age of barack obama ny allowed flavor flav to become the most popular black man in america. i didnt hear any1 say shit!!!!

so my solution is to start telling the truth and to hold the so-called leaders of hip hop accountable. enough of the hypocriscy and obvious double standards and bullshit. until niggas start telling the truth and living on priciples we are gonna continue to have young dudes (new boys, souljah boy) doing anything to get on mtv and old washed up has beens doing and saying anything to get back in the game (funk flex, meth).

you want a solution ther's mine. where is yours???? maybe you dont have one. maybe your solution is to continue to hate. it wouldnt surprise me.

I dont have to accept or deny who's a "Coon", that your responsibility and duty.

My duty and responsibility is not to elicit high-emotions from hyper-sensitive people but that seems to be what I have done.

You have no solutions, just meaningless banter that falls on deaf ears...you need a better outlet for your cause, and a better forum for your rallying cry.

It may seem like a lot of "haters" are concentrated on the east coast. But that just simply not true.

I don't need to tell you where the best hip-hop artist come from. Of all time. The East Coast reigns supreme.

We are critical of everything, east coast, west, south whatever.

Just because an artist comes from the east coast we will not automatically co-sign them, unlike many in other regions *cough south cough*

The above statement is the reason why a flood of horrible music and artist came from the south. Just supporting artist just because where they from, not the music.

This has made the south look like a joke for years.
