Why do some rappers get flack for having a bad message and not doing good for the community when the parents are supposed to raise the children not the rappers . Nicki Minaj is an example , i personally think she is complete garbage , i didnt know what garbage meant til' i heard of Nicki Minaj but why do some people say that she is ruining the youth and fucking up young girls when she cant be a parent to everyone ?

If it's deeper than rap then move it to a more suitable forum.

lmfao....anybody xpectin a rapper 2 tell them how 2 live they life & follow them is a damn fool lol smh

cause rappers are role models. Kids look to famous people for role models. It's just a fact of life. Yes parents play a role, but the media also plays role in how a child views the world.

I think it's because, Hip Hop has been looked at as, the voice of the Black Community (mainly the youth). Hip Hop was supposed to be progressive, informative, creative and innovative not a money making machine for White Corporations and desperate negros Word to AFRICA BAM and the ZULU nation.

It isn't just rappers it's all entertainers from music to sports to acting. It's on the parents but we would be naive to think that these entertainers don't influence people. Shit over half of my friends don't have a solid parental structure. and looking back you can see that they were influenced by shit that I wasn't b./c my grandfather stayed on my ass. You have to look at the kids that don't have parents or have parents that give a fuck. Them kids you see out riding bikes at 1am are the folks who do get influenced by the flash and shit they see. they want an escape but they don't have the education to realize that life isn't about what you see on tv. and if what you see on tv is what you want that hard work goes into that. So if there parent aren't stressing education then those are the kids that are more prone to fall into trying to live through entertainers. Or even worse their local drug dealer, crack head or just all around criminal elements. that's why it's so fucked that more of these so called hood rappers don't out out something positive or uplifting from time to time b/c they seen this shit 1st hand. It's not entertainers responsibility to raise the child correctly but their images do effect the weak and undeveloped minds.

the thing is the media shapes everyones view of every thing.

How do we know there is a recession?
Why do we remember 911?
why do a lot of people view the president in a bad light?
why did millions of people rush to buy the new COD game at $60 when they know in a year the price will be cut in half.

the media has shaped the view of these things and basically told us what to think.

Just to say "these parents need to raise their own kids." basically ignores the control the media has.

good post, and also most of these rappers the t/s is speaking on came from fucked up homes/environment, so now that you are in a position to better your life, why would you want to continue the trend ? You end up
fucking up yourself in the whole process and will eventually end up back where you started. T/s can you grasp all of that? Its a cycle.

It's amazing that everyone here blaming the Media are pigeon holing Hip Hop as, one dimensional. Hip Hop was created to combat the shit yall are speaking on. But that's what happens when every Tom, Dick and Harry got to thumbing their noses into Hip Hop.

thats the premise of this whole thread, to shift blame to somewhere, anywhere besides the self.

Cause today's parents are some shit. They dont instill in their kids on how to think . Meaning they dont teach them how to differentiate whats acceptable and unacceptable . I mean who in their right mind follows drug addicts and high schools dropouts as role models besides ignorant children . Yea i know you dont have to get a formal education to have intelligence . But the majority of these rappers are want to be as successful as Jay-Z but have the business aptitude of Radio . If parent were more active in their child lives and education no way in hell Wacka Flocka would be looked at as someone to aspire too. Instead it would be more of an understanding that dudes like him have its place buts thats it .

It's hard to figure out sometimes. are these artists just puppets or they just don't give a fuck and want to get paid. B/c in the hood you got those who are about uplifting, you got those who just don't give a fuck, and you got those who want to give a fuck but for some reason they ended up going the wrong way. I know violence and ignorance sells but at what point do folks look in the mirror and say everything in the hood or where ever isn't. Every nigga who made it out the hood isn't a rapper or ball player. folks just got regular jobs and shit or went to college. It's like ok some shit is fucked up but everything isn't. There are just too many categories that we have boxed hip hop into when the essence of hip hop was that you can't put this shit in a box and it has no restraints.

I don't buy that "rappers are role models shit". How do you slap a Parental Advisory label on somebody's album and then expect them to cater to your kids?

im not saying try to abolish the control the media has over the individual that would be illogical and impossible, but diminish its effect teach your kids the difference between fantasy and reality watch television with them, ask them what they think of a particular rapper and give them insight into the REAL world, just dont let these niggas raise your kids and then blame them when your kids are fucked up because you werent doing YOUR job as a parent.

It's not like rappers music are not easily accessible to kids. All they have to do is turn on the radio internet or the tv .

they play it like 24 /7 even rappers with questionable music are popping up on nick and cartoon network.

If you are going to be a rapper , kids are going to look up to you point blank.

If you don't want that pressure don't sign the contract.
