Why are labels putting out 30 singles and videos before these artists album dropped?

I'm guessing that with the way the music industry sales are now and the general lack of talent, labels are no longer confident enough to put out 1 singe and let that carry to the album release. Now a days it aint the label, its the artists droppin hundreds of single just hoping that one will blow up. Then if that single blows up they ask the label to fund an album based off that random ass single that just happened to blow up.

Same shit happened to lloyd banks, nicki minaj, wacka flocka, and yes even drake dropped mad singles just to see if one would blow. It's all bullshit. Shows the lack of talent in the industry

Trying to keep a buzz...its a simple as that, with hundreds of rappers in the game and 5 new ones comming out every week the second a nigga stops dropping material is the second another nigga takes his place.

the reason is that they want to create a buzz and some anticipation for the albums so dropping one single before the album wont do anymore. i understand the logic behind it.

i also think they dont understand what makes a Hit Record anymore.... Before they had a formula and now that dont seem to be working... So they put mad shit on the able and what ever takes off takes off.....

not exactly....there are so many hiphop fans out now that have so many ideas about what a hit record is and each division of fans are equally important when it comes to record sales if that makes any sense, its like street niggas want a street single, club niggas want a club single, hiphop heads want a hiphop single, and so on so they put out crazy singles and mixtapes in a attempt to please all sides.

There's BARELY any rappers tryin to please all sides.... Most rappers stick to their respective lanes and milk that for all they can.... And if they do step out of it they catch Backlash i.e. Gucci once he got Commercial and not street there was all types of complaints coming out of the Special Ed classes.....

Gucci is a special case cause he is just now blowin up as far as i can see, i gotta give him a few more years before i can pass judgment, but take a nigga like 50, Nore, DMX, or any other rapper who has spent years in the rap game, they gotta have the club single, the street single, the ladies single, and the single with the dope feat. then they gotta drop like 3 mixtapes before the album comes out.

They want a single that hits before they drop the album. With Diddy's album for instance, none of the intial singles popped off so they kept pushing the album back and releasing more singles.

'Course then you have the opposite problem where you have a hot single but no album in sight, like Busta's The Big Bang for instance. It's usually the former instead of the latter through.

I can't think of any music era by which the music video holds more weight than just the song itself.

They do that because nobody buys albums when they download for free or just by the singles

individually off itunes the internet fucked it up. its not lack of talent. now ppl have to be intrested in you as PERSON

to go out and buy your album. thats why gimmick(nicki MInaj) and street cred( guccie Mayne are so important
