I tried to watch The Game before it was on BET, but couldn't get into it.

I know it is not a TV show, but I remember and interview with Eddie Murphy and he talked about Tower Heist. He said he wrote that movie with an all black cast in mind, but when he took it to TPTB, they were not having it and wanted others in it.

It just makes me think there are writers out there trying to write shows for us, but they either get rejected or changed to a mostly white cast.

we're gonna act like white writers/directors don't make the same type of movie over and over again? it's called catering to an audience. nothing wrong with it.

I'on know folk...I guess you can say same movies, but I will say that they touch on all elements of man kind when they make their movies.. meaning white folks have a broader selection when it comes to making their movies and characters... disease outbreaks, aliens, infidelity, vampires, Hell vs Heaven, psycho path killers, Saw..comedy...etc..the list goes on...it's the elements that they touch on to make their movies...The Matrix, The movie about 'time' that separates their movies from Black movies and shows

A good movie that was on a different element platform was The Great Debtors but I guess it can go back to what you stated about having an audience for those movies...All my friends like to laugh...So a black movie about going to Mars wouldn't make money

I observe shit like that..watchin the Cosby show..Cliff wore fucking sweaters lol...he wore at times HBCU ones...Family Matters...you have different types of characters on that show...different vibes were brought and showed on camera...it's the same energy from each character..I mean same look from each character in our shows and movies lol...

Yeah, some of these black folk in black shows of the past do be all dressed up, even niggas like unemployed Tommy from Martin. haha It all starts from the grassroots. Like the last poster said, them old heads that are crabs need to realize that not all black folk act and dress the same damn way. why must black people make movies like the whites do? i don't want to speak on the majority of black folks but for the most part (aliens, disease outbreak etc) aren't appealing to black people. the reason those hood flicks gets made is because black people can relate to it. we don't need to mimic the type of movies they make, just as long as the writing and acting is good that is all that should matter.
