we're gonna act like white writers/directors don't make the same type of movie over and over again? it's called catering to an audience. nothing wrong with it.

I'on know folk...I guess you can say same movies, but I will say that they touch on all elements of man kind when they make their movies.. meaning white folks have a broader selection when it comes to making their movies and characters... disease outbreaks, aliens, infidelity, vampires, Hell vs Heaven, psycho path killers, Saw..comedy...etc..the list goes on...it's the elements that they touch on to make their movies...The Matrix, The movie about 'time' that separates their movies from Black movies and shows

All black movies majority of them touches on comedy and relationship guidelines and hood shit...or old slavery (historical) movies....Name me an alien black movie... A good movie that was on a different element platform was The Great Debtors but I guess it can go back to what you stated about having an audience for those movies...All my friends like to laugh...So a black movie about going to Mars wouldn't make money

Many of us watched the movie The Hang-Over...movies like that..we need to make movies like that...with that comedy in them

why must black people make movies like the whites do? i don't want to speak on the majority of black folks but for the most part (aliens, disease outbreak etc) aren't appealing to black people. the reason those hood flicks gets made is because black people can relate to it. we don't need to mimic the type of movies they make, just as long as the writing and acting is good that is all that should matter.

We need to change the format of how we make movies now...we don't have to per say copy the same movie but let's change it up a bit...let's have a Hang-over type movie, let's have an end of the world type movie (lol..shit would be hilarious) lets have a movie about something we can relate to but in a different manner set up on a different platform, per say...I mean hood flicks are good, I guess I'm sayin..there needs to be a balance in the type of movies we make...if you get a good cast of actors and actresses and develop good "characters" within the script..it'll be aight..you prolly won't do blockbuster numbers becuz it's something different, but you gotta keep at it..break the cycle of just doing hood flicks and these how to get a man or woman to love you type movies, a movie in the eyes of black ppl of the world coming to an end would be something folks might wanna see...I mean I would like to see how black folks would react and the tactics they would use to try and save the world lol...I just wanna see the reactions LOL...but we just have to have a balance of our product and this goes for T.V. shows too..All our movies and T.V. shows can't be about the hood..even though we relate to it, we have to widen the scope in other areas IMO such as, mystery, thrillers, etc..

A movie like Takers featured a black cast but wasn't the usual "hood" setting. Then you have 2nd generation Wayans which is similar to entourage etc. I get what you're trying to say and it does look like the tide is turning, however my point is that blacks have this thing about how they're perceived by whites, and they criticize their own. People bash Tyler Perry for his movies but at least he's employing black producers, black film crews and black actors. When Scorcese makes his mob films are people breathing down his neck to "switch it up" or are Italians complaining about him showing Italians in a "negative light"? I don't like a lot of those Tyler Perry movies but I can respect what he's trying to do. I see no issues with black film makers using the hood setting to tell a story, just as long as it's a well written story with good acting, word to the Wire.

Another good reality show..I think it's call Sweetie Pies or something..

I caught a few shows and it shows the back-side of running a business...well that's what I gets outta watching it...some may get something else from it...it's still a reality show in sense but it's more clean and it's not your average hood drama black reality show...even though the lady who owns the restaurants is hood lol

I know this is about shows..but shid the movies are the same...I can't stand black movies...shits are pretty much the same and lack any motives or deep concepts within their scripts..same generic stuff...my patnas try and clown for not supporting the black movies, but I'm like them shits are dumb..How many movies are we going to make explaining to me the rules on how to get a woman lol..All These fucking guideline movies.."Breaking All the Rules, Two Can play that game..Three Can Play that game..That Steve Harvey Movie..Lol...I'm like shit..and the other wack comedy movies and wack action movies..i.e. Lottery Ticket...First Sunday..This Christmas...Waist Deep..etc..lol..I'm like yall ngas really support that shit...

I think it's alot of writers that write about black shit instead of creating scripts and characters about "America everyday life shit" think outside of the normal "black shit"

Like Scandal the show that comes on ABC or modern family...my homegurl likes it that Scandal show and I've watched a few shows..now that's something that's different and out of the norm...drama and suspense type shows..we don't have that within our shows or movies...Safe House is another good movie...It's sad when the Cosby show and Different World is still in my dvd record que..

Pursuit of Happyness

City of God

Hotel Rwanda

were good movies. Check em out if you haven't
