They're confusing signature sound with repetition.

poll needs to be remade without the easy out politically correct protecting face option of "other/pick a producer" that way a more honest assessment can be given on amongst the top producers...

Puffy. It always blew my mind when people mentioned him as a producer.

Whoa..whoa..whoa...

Puff basically has a team of producers who make beats for him, then he comes in and 'sprinkles his magic', then credits it to himself (via Hitmen)

Well, if that makes him overrated...

This ngga been doin that for the last 10 years. Google Mike Elizondo, Denauan Porter.

Dr Dre although Kanye is a pretty overrated too. Niggas act like he started the whole sampling soul tracks thing.

In what world are people like Premo, Dre, Just Blaze, Kanye overrated, do you niggas even understand what ya'll are saying. smh

Take away those mfs from the culture and the scope of the business wouldn't be the same. To me overrated are people who's hype doesn't match their impact/catalog.

The key difference is that Dre at the very least programs drums, pretty much making the beat. He just doesn't play the instruments that Elizondo, Mark Batson, Scott Storch, and Denaun Porter are credited with. Puff rarely, if ever has actually manually created a beat.

What Puffy did/does is more closely associated with what Kanye has been doing for the past few years, which is getting tracks from producers and tweaking them. Those producers receive credits, but Kanye like Diddy, didn't manually make the beat, but made alterations.
