dictionary lyricism and Hip Hop lyricism are two completely different things

That's like looking up the definition of the word "Dope" and trying to compare to Hip Hop term "dope".

Complete and utter nonsense.

lol at the convenient "content'' argument, fuck outta here. I don't give a fuck what you rap about, as long as it's dope.

I also agree that hiphop lyricism and the dictionary definition are completely different, i think the dictionary is speaking in the poetical sense. We're not speaking about sonnets, couplets, etc here.

You're hip hop head, you should know this by now.

Like for example, Jay-Z is more lyrical than Pac because of his double entrendes and puts wordplay together crazy.

Pac doesn't.

Rakim and Nas I can agree they're the best lyricists, I don't disagree with that.

I disagree with your definition.

Man if I had my "How Y'all gonna say Tupac ain'tyrical thread" shit was goat and went 5xplat fuckin ducky hacked the IC and wiped every thread away

I'm going with Nas. But I think Biggie and Ghostface are/were better storytellers.

Cosign 100%. That's why Biggie will always be one of my favourite rappers.

Nas is. Hes done it the longest and has the best content to match it.

this guy knows and has mostly every rapper CD to back up his claim

Respect to all the posters that post their CD collections in @icecoldstew thread.

I view that thread as a prerequisite of posters that have a balanced view of Rappers musical content

I still haven't posted all my collections yet and would surprised some of what i have.

If your a Real Hip Hop Head, post your collection

I've purchased maybe 20 CDs since the days of Napster and one of the most versatile hip hop listeners on this site. A pic of a collection doesn't mean shit cause icecold is still ATL biased as fuck.

Sincerely,

Turfy (a real hip hop head wit no collection pic)

Jay Z is the best lyricist because he can do what all the aforementioned artist can do but its not vice versa. Tupac is the closest and then biggie

If that's the case Kanye West is lyrical, too.

Hip hop definition of lyricism is different from dictionary definition.

If it was the same, 2Pac would be the best lyricist, you got a lot of people who disagrees with that.

A lot of people. A LOT.

What about Trick Daddy or Pimp C? Are they lyrical?

Lyrical means wordplays and abstract lyrics in a hip hop sense.

Pac was good at the content, not the actual wordplay.

This is why I love Hip Hop so much, because to me content doesn't matter.

I care about skill, Pac was just a great songwriter.
