I really hate -isms, but...Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.

Isms and schisms. Rastafarians object to labelling their movement as a religion or as an ism - it's an overstanding.

I know very little about these three, but I hope to remedy that over the next year.

I agree...too much classifying and categorizing (which is also talked about negatively in Taoism and Buddhism). I think you would be able to appreciate a lot of what they have to offer from reading many of your previous posts.

Sounds good, any recommended readings to start me off?

Buddhism and I don't know if it could be considered a religion, but Ancient Alien Theory.

I also have a lot of interest in Scientology outside of the spooky come on now son stuff. IMO, outside of Buddhism, Scientology is one of the best at promoting self awareness, self control, and self discipline, and you yourself being the ruler of your own destiny.

That Lord Xenu volcano shit interests me, but in a semi-repulsed way. Scientologists seem a little kooky to me.

I think the entire thing is a bunch of weirdo's.

But I do respect the self responsibility they preach.

Scientology is Janklow's most favorite topic.

I have their book set, shits like a college course, all them big fancy words, damn. But from the books I have read, it was very interesting I agree.

Sure...

Taoist Text:

Taoist texts can be a bit confusing and paradoxical to beginning readers, so it's always good to chose a translation with a good introduction. Another thing, Taoists (and buddhists) have a great sense of humor that sometimes gets lost in the text, if you are not aware of it.

Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu

Chuang Tzu: Basic Writings - Burton Watson

Buddhist Text:

There are so many Buddhist texts and sutras, but one that I really like is from a Korean monk named Seung Sahn. The book is called "The Compass of Zen."

Confucist Text:

Analects - Confucius

Yea I know, Mad it's only an hour long now though. Watched the first one "Mysterious Places", interesting but I think it has more to do with energy patterns in the Earth and nothing to do with Aliens.

L. Ron Hubbard was also a hypocritical pill-popping narcissist, racist, and compulsive liar. I'm not violent, but I'd like to hurt him.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT

ironically, 2012 apparently spent some time today writing me angry/condescending PMs, so that made me feel pretty good about myself

seriously, though, what the fuck, Scientology is terrible criminal garbage. anything of value accidentally located in their books/teachings/schemes to commit crimes against the US government and murder their members/etc is probably lifted from some other religion, so just read that stuff instead.

it's a fact that one of my hobbies is to purchase used L. Ron Hubbard books for charity purposes and then shoot them into pieces
