seriously, though, what the fuck, Scientology is terrible criminal garbage. anything of value accidentally located in their books/teachings/schemes to commit crimes against the US government and murder their members/etc is probably lifted from some other religion, so just read that stuff instead.

Imo he used his understanding of the human mind and did 'evil' with it, now whether he stole all that understanding or gained it himself I don't know, but the understanding by itself has validity.

Everything, the more and more I read I can't help but love the aforism, allegory of 'religious/filosofers' regardless of what they called themselves at the time. There have been to many individuels and less religion imo, I've read work of people who considered themselves enlightened(buddhist/moslim/christian/taost etc) they could all have been bros and sistas, thats why I have no specific interest in a religion in general. I've always been more interested in the people behind the religion than the religion itself.

I have read ibn tufayl's work.....(hayy ibn yaqzan is the tilte I dont know the english version) but his intro alone has blew me away...

here is a story about jesus written byabu bakr ibn abi al-dunya(lol) translated by my self(please excuse the flaws, english is not my native tonque)

A man who once was in compani with Jesus told him: I want to be your companion'. They went on their way, came near a rivier and sat down to eat. They had 3 breads with them. They ate 2 breads and the third remained. Jesus stood up and walked to the river to get a drink. When he came back, the third bread was gone so he asked the man: 'Who took the bread'. I don't know, answered the man. Once again Jesus and his companion carried on, went on their way and on the road they saw a deer with 2 of her cups. Jesus called one of the cups and it came to him. Jesus slaughtered it, roasted it and ate some meat with his companion. Than Jesus spoke to the deer and said: 'Stand up, as God orders u please' The deer stood up and walked away. Than Jesus focused on his companion and said: 'I ask u in the name of 'It/Him' that showed u this miracle, who took the bread>? I don't know said the man. After that both carried on untill they reached a waterspot in a valley. Jesus took the man by his hand and walked on water. When they reached the other side Jesus said to him: In the name of It/Him that showed u this miracle I ask u: Who took the bread? I don't know the man replied. Then they continoud untill they reached a dry desert and sat down on the sand. Jesus took some water and sand and said: Become gold, as Gods order please' And so it happened. Jesus took the gold and divided it in 3 portions and said: '1 third for me, 1 third for u en the other third is for who ever took the third bread' The man answered; It was I, I took the 3rd bread! Jesus replied: the Gold is all yours. Jesus than left the man. Than still in the desert, 2 man came to jesus former companion with the gold and wanted to kill him and rob him. He said: Lets split the gold in 3 portions amongst the 3 of us and lets send 1 guy to the city to buy some food for us. So one of the 3 went to the city and said to himself: Why shouyld I share the gold with those 2? It is better that I poison the food and keep the gold for myself'. In the mean while the 2 left behind said to eachother; 'why should we give him 1 third of the gold? When he comes back we shall kill him en split the gold between us 2. When the man came back, they killed him and ate the food and and died themselves aswell. The Gold remained in the desert, with the 3 dead man besides it. Jesus passed by them, found the man in that condition and said to his companions : This is the world. Herd urself from it'

Isms and schisms. Rastafarians object to labelling their movement as a religion or as an ism - it's an overstanding.

I know very little about these three, but I hope to remedy that over the next year.

i am a Jamaican and i have never understood Rastafarian...the whole Haile Sellasie thing...enlighten me please

its a word a bunch of half-literate stoners made up because they are racist and refuse to accept any academic "white" knowledge as legitimate

Overstanding and has none of these connotations. Rastas simply desired to take the colonial language of oppression and flip it.

Initially Rastafari was a movement of black supremacy, but it now is mostly egalitarian and open to all races.

"that until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned; that until there is no longer any first-class and second-class citizens of any nation; that until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; that until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all, without regard to race -- until that day, the dreams of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained." Rastafari has roots in Bedwardism, Hindu holy men, Marcus Garvey, - "look to Africa, for there a king shall be crowned", Afro-centrism and Pan-Africanism, and especially cult-leader Leonard Howell who was the first to write that Selassie was God. Garvey disapproved of Howell, but he is still regarded as a prophet.

Most Rastas believe that Selassie is the human representation of Jah on earth. The coronation of Selassie was much hyped and it didn't help that the Ethiopians used such titles as Kings of King and Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Selassie was also said to trace his lineage to the house of David through the line of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba (Menelik I). Ethiopia had never been colonized and was held in high regard by pan-Africanists.

If you ask some Ethiopians though, Selassie was a poor ruler. There are legitimate criticisms of his rule, and I think his early legacy was good but he was too conservative and autocratic to deal with the demands of organizing Ethiopia into a modern nation.

it would have to be stolen, because there's nothing about Scientology that implies Hubbard has ever had an original idea.

as far as the understanding itself having validity, i would say it like this: let's say you steal a bunch of ideas from Buddhism (or any Eastern religion) and make them sound slightly different while enriching yourself. i would say that any understanding gained from this is, if even valid, worth less than that gained by acquiring through less morally bankrupt means.
