what has lyricism to do with flow, delivery or rhyme schemes? absolutely nothing. these are things you need to be a good rapper, but it doesnt make you a good lyricist. a good lyricist has good lyrics.
wordplay, metaphors, similies, are criterias you can measure without the need of listening to the music, you could just read the lyrics. second, you can judge good lyrics without diggin the message. just because a song has a positive meaning doesnt make it good lyrically. the same goes with an ignorant song: it still could be the dopest shit lyrically.
with that said: i prefer a dope lyricist talking about some ignorant shit over a not-so-lyrical pseudo-revolutionary explaining the world with elementary school rhymes.
