That formula wasn't for lyricism, fool. That's a logical formula to indicate what follows necessarily.

Rhyme scheme does involve lyrics as your choice of words dictates the rhyme scheme. Internals are also a part of rhyme schemes, and internals are very much a part of lyricism.

lyr·i·cism noun \ˈlir-ə-ˌsi-zəm\

Definition of LYRICISM

1

: the quality or state of being lyric : songfulness

2

a : an intense personal quality expressive of feeling or emotion in an art (as poetry or music)

Your rhyme schemes dictate the structure of your song and it's overall sound.

so you basically say that

snatched off your feet, breakin-your-neck, stick a stake-in-your-chest/

drag you out the street, bitch, i'm takin-you-death/

is lyrical?

and it feels like you hanging at school analyzing shit all day the way you post.. shiit, its words and music dude. something you feel. when we say we go to the lab we aint talking about the nasa...

It is quite obvious that hip hop does not buy into the dictionary meaning of lyrics or lyrical, because it is quite obvious that the words you choose to speak, which is content is the most important aspect of the dictionary meaning of lyrics or lyrical. How else can poetry or a poem be lyrical when rhyming is not even a necessity in poetry. The words you choose to speak are the most important aspect of lyricism. 2Pac best lyricist to me and some claim he was not lyrical LMAO.

That's the textbook definition. Hip Hop's definition of lyrical and literature's definiton of lyrical are totally different.

Just like how when a nigga said you're ill in a hip hop slang. Does it mean he's sick?

True, I have been trying to express this to some, that hip hop has distorted the meaning of lyricism to something that some dumb smart people decided was more appropriate. There dumb smart because they have failed to ever get there definition of lyricism over on a large scale. Maybe they aren't really dumb smart just failures.

This.

Big KRIT is the modern example of why you don't need to be complex to be lyrical. He doesn't use punchlines very often, his rhymes and his vocab are both pretty simple........but his music has a lot more depth to it than someone like Cory Gunz who relies very heavily on punchlines and multis
