Only in hip hop is biggie marginalized cuz of his death

Jimi hendrix is considered an influential legend and he dropped 3 albums while alive, yet I never heard a soul question his impact

Big dropped 2 classic albums and a group album and several features and is the most sampled/bitten rappa ever

Put up any rappers best 2 albums and they are not stronger than Bigs. Maybe only Nas with Illmatic and Stillmatic but that's pretty much it.

Scarface- The Diary (NO) and The Fix (Yea)

Ice Cube- Amerikkkas Most Wanted (NO) and Death Certificate (NO)

Ghostface- IronMan (HELL NO) and Supreme Clientele (Maybe but still no)

Common- Resurrectio (Maybe) and BE (NO)

Tupac- MATW (MAYBE) and AEOM (HELL TO THE NIGGITY NO)

Jay- Reasonable Doubt (HELL NO and this my fav album) and Blueprint (NOPE)

Kanye- College Dropout (NOPE) and Late Registration (MAYBE)

Just forget the rest of their albums cause they only have 2 lol

None of those are better than Ready to Die AND Life After Death.

Funny u name no Em albums... just found that funny

Ok but ALL of their catalogs are better than Biggies 2 albums. No?

Theres no reasonable conversation about Em on the IC so I choose not to mention him.

Of course but the fact that Bigs 2 albums can spar with anybodys says a lot. Btw I don't think Big is Goat. That title belongs to Nas.

And AEOM is so overrated its not funny.

And Ems albums aren't on par with anyone u name on or off the IC.

U have your opinion. I have mine.

^Can't come up wit a better answer so he deflects from the logic just thrown in his coyote lookin face

If jimi hendrix is considered a goat so is big

If u dont bump biggie like that cool,But to say he has no impact cuz of his catalog being shorter than others is ridiculous

I didnt say that dummy. I said he's in my top 10 just not the GOAT. That is what the OP said. Read nigga

Jimmi Hendrix is nice....but his albums didnt have a huge impact on his GENRE

Biggie Dropped 2 classics that established his legacy

@Icecoldstew

Saying that really makes the quality over quantity overrated.

Too Short has like 23 albums but he isn't nowhere near the G.O.A.T. list.

B.I.G. is far above Too Short.

Bruh. U can find Too Short somewhere in my bottom 50 if that. My point is Biggie cant be GOAT with 2 albums cause we have quality artist that have 5+ albums that have a better catalog than his 2 albums. Yes his 2 albums are great, I think only 1 is classic but both are great and thats why I have him in my top 10. Having him at #1 is str8 disrespect and its not his fault but just the way it is. I had Pac as my #1 for the longest but Nas(some will say Jay and I dont have a problem with that) has much more great music to claim that spot

I wasn't trying to strawman your case but I giving you an example

That Quantity over Quality by far.

yall like the throw the word CLASSIC around heavy. To tell you the truth Big's first album was more like a 4 1/2 mic joint to me.

Cats are stuck on the "2" albums. He is labeled as the goat because of his impact and influence on the genre. This is the problem with hip hop fans. Now don't get me wrong it's ok to have an opinion, but we as hip hop fans shouldn't tear down our legends. You don't see rock fans shitting on Kurt Cobain even though he only dropped 3 albums as a member of Nirvana.

I got respect for rappers that pioneered this game. I don't know about y'all.

Illmatic deserves its rating as the goat album, although personally I disagree with that, I don't have an album I consider the "goat".

Lol @ Illmatic being the goat album

that shss is dated as f**k

Biggie Ready To Die>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Illmatic

illmatic >life after death.

it was written ain't better than life after death but to me they are equal in the same greatness and impact.

all the rappers you mentioned ain't that close.

This has always been my reasoning for Big's GOAT status Tommy. Jimi Hendrix is considered the greatest gutair player ever over the likes of BB King, Clapton and Santana who all have more albums and songs than them. Why? Cause all 3 of his albums are classics and his skillset is easily the best ever. Big falls into this category also. "RTD and LAD" are both Classic game changing LP's. But one of them was a Double LP so that's 3 LP's worth of Classic Material. Also the "Len Bias" sports analogy doesn't fly cause Big's 2 LP's was like Biggie winning the Championship and MVP back to back also his influence and the fact his rhymes are still being bitten till this day means he was a bigger figure to the artform than Len Bias was to basketball. Biggie career is Jordan during his 1st 3-Peat. Also It kills me when people say, "Oh Big only had 2 albums":

RTD (Writer)

Conspiracy (Executive Producer, Producer, Writer)

Hard Core (Executive Producer, Producer, Writer)

Life After Death (Double LP, Writer)

No Way Out (Executive Producer, Writer)

That's 6 LP's that he helped and every single one of them were a success. No to mention all the Remixes and collaborations he did. Biggie released 6 or 7 LP's worth Material when you add up all the songs he was on. So No I don't think it's Blasphemous at all to say he's the GOAT, there is an agruement. As for "ILLmatic", it's not Blasphemous to say it's the GOAT Rap LP. In my view there are only about 5 seeing ILLmatic:

Run DMC

It Takes a Nation

Paid in Full

The Chronic

Ready To Die

That's it. Some others could be argued but even those 5 can't be put over "ILLmatic" they are just equal. This is why 1994 was so special. It gave us the debuts of NaS and Biggie:

Too Short is a Legend though and one of the greatest rappers from the West Coast. So he's up there but as far as skillset, No, he's not considered a GOAT. But he did do songs with Pac and Biggie. Also for being on Big's LP, Short dropped a Classic Verse and held his own but your point is correct. There are tons of rappers with 10 LP's and they aren't seeing Big. Master P dropped 12 albums, is he better than Big? Quality over Quantity will always be the rule folks.
