No Nelly? No T.I. 2006? Ja Rule?

1) it's only possible to include 10 options

2) Lets be realistic: 50 cent had the power to KILL ja rules career while he was in his prime, so anyone who would vote Ja over 50 is on crack

The years nelly did crazy (2000 and 2002), Eminem did that much CRAZIER....

In 2000 it's Country Grammer (9 mil) vs MMLP ... 10 million / 27 million world wide..... NO CONTEST

2002... it's Nellyville (6.5 million) vs Eminem show.. 10 million / 22 million WW.... AND 8 MILE SOUNDTRACK / 8 MILE MOVIE

No contest

The list is somewhat made by a process of Elimination...

Jays 1998 was crazy, but it was shitted on by DMX's

Nelly I already explained

Ja rule had what, 2000? 2002? Any year he had was over shadowed by someone else

I can argue Jeezy's 2005 >>> T.I.'s 2006... and he's not on the list...

In fact, I can argue Lil Jons 2003 >>>>>>>>>>>> T.I's 2006 and Jeezys 2005... but since Lil Jon, while UNBELIEVABLE and woulda dominated any year from 2004 to 2013, 2003 was 50's year... (lil jon put ATL on the map... his 2003 is a top 10 to 15 year in rap history easily, but 50's is #2 or #1, as you can see from the poll)

Translation: If you didn't win the battle of 1 year, it's no way you could win the battle of 30 years. I only put up realistic winners, not just honorable mentions.

No Nellyville?

Unfortunately he dropped in 2002 along with Eminem.....

How would it look to have a RUNNER UP album for the YEAR in a thread talking about the GREATEST YEARS in hiphop history.... that's an Oxymoron...

No room for 2nd place unfortunately...

Nelly dropped a better album. So fuck all that shit.

How u gonna argue with a little wayne stan tho??

I think ppl forget how hard it was to get away from lil wayne in 08.....50 dominated 03 from a point of his buzz of that one album but lil wayne dominated from the standpoint of he was EVERYWHERE!!! From his album to features to mixtapes to videos it was crazy....

You used the perfect words.... "Get away from" ...

I was not a Lil wayne fan, but IF I WANTED TO LISTEN TO MUSIC in 2008... I had to listen to wayne... I didn't have no choice... It's either listen to Wayne or don't play music or turn on tv...

I had options in 2003 with 50: lil john, outkast, black album etc.....

With Weezy LITERALLY being on every song on the radio, you couldn't escape him...

Bruh, I think ppl forgetting.... While Get Rich was anticipated for, lets say a year at MOST...

Carter 3 was delayed for 2 1/2 years.... like, the buzz built up on that album like a nuclear Bomb....

I lived through the 50 cent get rich shit, and I lived through the Wayne shit... Both of them felt ridiculous buzz wise, but like you say, Wayne just felt more saturated.

Wayne had such massive amount of mixtapes and features. I read somewhere he was doing 4 or 5 songs a day and the hundreds of song were in everybodies ipod I knew.

Wayne was everywhere back in 07-08. And after that time period wayne birth a lot of new school rappers!!!

I don't agree with the vote, but this guy has a point... I don't think anyone on this list had an immediate influence on the game like Wayne in his prime. And I'm talking current times, not retrospective influence like Pac or Jay.

Im not a big fan of Wayne but niggas is fronting if yall think Wayne wasnt extremely huge around 2007-2008 especially.

Im not saying he necessarely was bigger than the other mentioned, but dont front like he didnt have that type of hype as well.

1996 tupac for sure....after he was released from jail he was all over the place, made more music in that year than most rappers....plus whoever he was dissin was strugglin, i mean who didn't run around disrespecting biggie, jayz, and mobb deep...when tupac said somethin people listen.l
False.

Tupac still diidn't affect Biggies Nas or Jay Z sales touring etc.

*Multi Plat and even sold more after Death than alive (BIG

*No one in the music industry or fans in general dissed Big, Nas or Jay during Tupac's tirade.

*The only rappers to shut careers down was 50cent and KRS (MC Shan)

The reason why I pick 50 is because literally this dude was fucking everywhere. This nigga had white bitches recited the lyrics from "Wangsta" on MTV Spring Break that year, they even did a MTV special for the GRODT album released. I never seen that type of shit for a hip hop artist at that time & I thought that shit was crazy. Plus the mixtapes they was dropping so he had the hood & commercial on smash. Hot97 & Power 105 will run "In Da Club" all day, shit they even play the whole album at times on the radio you will think the track with Tony Yayo was a single

50 was just an outright beasting the game in 2003 with mixtapes & GRODT album. Not saying that all the other names in the polls weren't dominate in they period b/c they were. Em was just giving straight up heat albums in the early 00's up until encore came out.

The correct answer is Eminem 2002. It's not really up for debate. 14 million albums sold, multiple #1 hits, #1 movie and an academy award.

50 had a big year but y'all acting like the black album didn't drop that year that had jay out there or speakboxxx/the love below didn't drop and had oukast out there hell beyonce was even out at that time stealing some of his buzz not to mention the ludas and trap muzik type of albums that dropped... But in 08 whether it was hip hop or r&b or mixtapes if it dropped and it had any buzz to it it evolved lil wayne he was all you seen on tv and all you heard coming out your speakers whether you like it or not
