No Nellyville?

Unfortunately he dropped in 2002 along with Eminem.....

How would it look to have a RUNNER UP album for the YEAR in a thread talking about the GREATEST YEARS in hiphop history.... that's an Oxymoron...

No room for 2nd place unfortunately...

This the difference between 50 cent 2003 and Lil Wayne 2008:

In 2003, in the club was CRAZY... that was playing everywhere.... BUT...

They still had to switch between In Da Club / Hey Ya / 99 Problems / Get Low / Crazy in Love etc etc...

IN 2008, EVERYTIME A SONG SWITCHED.... IT WAS WAYNE SOMEWHERE ON THE NEW SONG THEY SWITCHED TOO..... LITERALLY

This is why I say wayne was AT LEAST as hot as 50's 2003 in 2008, if not more so... very close / debtable... definitely not land slide

Too bad all that 8mile shit was in 2002

I'm too young to have really experienced the impact of the first three chooses.. But X in 98 was a complete takeover. You had It's Dark & Hell Is Hot AND Flesh of My Flesh.. back to back

I absolutely fucked up the poll..... 2002 was the year for Em, not 2000

I accidently put 2000 in the Poll itself

Eminem Show, 8 mile, 8 mile soundtrack ALL = 2002..... did yall even read the thread?

Duke fucked up on the poll, in the post he talks about Em's 2002 year, that's what he meant.

Yea I wish it was obvious.... niggas don't even read... damn..... Wonder how many votes Em missing because of that.

IMO it's between 2003 w/ 50 Cent or 1997 w/ Biggie.

The only reason I think I can justify 1997 for Biggie is b/c he was already buzzing w/ a new album coming out on the heels of the end of the East-West feud (something that's penetrated pop culture and is not referenced in almost every tv show and plenty of movies), was on the cusp of releasing the most highly anticipated album of the year, and it was a double album that went diamond; and his getting killed just before the album debuted propelled him into the pantheon of hip hop as a mythological figure along w/ Pac that is referenced on almost every album till this day.

Besides everything everyone has said about 50 though, i'll just add that his buzz and subsequent success as a result of 2003 has been so strong, that he's the go-to name for jokes referring to hip hop. There's only a few rappers who you can really name and everyone knows, from your immigrant parents who know jack about pop culture b/c they don't really know the language, to your most wanna-be hipster white parents in the 'burbs. And 50 Cent is now part of that group, along w/ Wu, Biggie & Pac, Snoop, Jay-Z, Eminem, and Dr. Dre.
