Rap is Good, old niggas go listen old shit and stop complaining

So young nigga... Tell why is it good? I mean... I know you're gonna say it's clearly because of the lyrical content... Or from the amazing quality of the music... Please school me!

I shouldn't have to do tons of research to find good music, that's how you know the game is wack. When you have to watch 1000s of youtube videos,go to 8 different forums, and listen to 100s of mixtapes just to find something decent to listen to. You got to be an A&R now this shit fucking Ridiculous where that funny ass RZA gif at.

I mean... We judge country, rnb, rock and almost every other genre by the person's voice... As it is the primary instrument. But with rap it's all about the words... Fuck the music. That's how you define yourself from the next artist. If anyone is all about the music then they should listen to techno!

Agreed with the threadstarter. Essentially, there's not enough balance in hip hop. The number of artists that can make it to the radio and TV is getting smaller and smaller. As a result we're getting oversaturated with the same rappers talking about the same stuff and aren't hearing any variety anymore.

The Internet is kind of killing things too. Some hip hop fans are like "if you want to play the same things over and over I'll listen to satellite or Internet radio." All that's doing is polarizing the audience. The target audience listening to mainstream gets smaller, which narrows what they play even more and causes even more imbalance.

R & B is another matter though. The genre has changed. First off, nowadays R & B artists are trying to be like rappers more and more now, cursing on records, trying to show off their "swag," etc. Second, you wouldn't think this would be a negative but more artists are writing their own songs now instead of letting someone else do it. The result is that R & B artists aren't really saying anything that would elicit emotion or impact like you used to hear.

With both genres we need a little bit more freshness and variety. We also need music that can appeal to everybody instead of the industry being subdivided the way it is. Nobody really in either genre is too concerned about (or may be able to) taking their music somewhere the industry and listener hasn't been before.

Hip hop should do like rock did and make sub-genres... Soft rock, classic rock, alternative... Hip Hop should form... Piss Pot for all that bullshit on the radio!

I agree with you. It is rather annoying that the stuff thats come out is pushed to make us all crazy to believe we really like it when we really dont. Then the stuff we do like, we never get much of that. I just dont get that part.

Current Hip Hop - Gimmicks, Twitter Beef, Flow Stealing, Allhiphop.com saying biting should be acceptable, OVERLOAD on Publicity Stunts, No young and up coming Artist being played on radio, Everybody sounds the same, No body is original, Too many features on Albums, etc etc.

At the end of the day, the love of Hip Hop is not there anymore. I'm convinced that more then half of the rappers out chea wanna is thinking Money first - Art Later.

The "Emcee" is dying, there's only a few "Artist" making music, and EVERYBODY wants to be a rapper because ANYBODY can be a rapper with one hard hitting beat and a catchy hook.

The status of hip hop is just getting worse and worse cause casual listeners just dont give a fuck about it like they used too.

The best rappers are getting old, and a few of them are desperately trying to fit in with what the younger cats are doing.

The Rappers of today dont respect the Founders of yesterday .. Tomorrow is just going to get worse. Well ..

Hip Hop is Dead. Record labels have a lot to do with it, radio have a lot to do with it, and even us posters play apart in it.

The game is trying its best to grow up more, but nigga's are flat out whack.
