wasn't lyrical gold but it was a damn good album and is a classic album to this day

juve could and can still rap

hip hop that's not aging well to me is goddamn trap rap

niggas took some shit that felt organic and commercialized it

trap rap is mainstream now

niggas used to rap about shit a nigga saw and shit that inspired a nigga as a young dumb nigga

they also used to speak on the many pitfalls that type of life had to offer as well

now everybody sellin dope, got a bad bitch, a foreign car, none of his niggas died, he ain't never got robbed, etc., etc.

shit is just bogus now

everything was trendy at a point lets be honest. wutang was trendy, tribe called quest.. i respect your honesty with the 400 degrees shit. i used to really like kurupt..i listen to certain songs i used to dig now and im like i must have been totally high thru out the 90s..i still like we can freak it tho..

All those token "Spanish beat" songs that niggas had on they album from like '97 to '04...

damn good point...i was some where a few days ago and hola hovito or whatever came on and i was like turn that shit off!! nah, actually i remember, i had to go to VA to work over the holidays..they still play roc a fella era hov on the radio out that bitch...i heard hovito and is that your chick on the radio and i was like, yo, that shit is terrible!! full disclosure i never was a roca fella or hovito fan....

Ironically its hard to listen to classic Badboy records like Benjamins Remix and even some of Biggies jams like Juicy and Big Poppa because they have got an inordinate amount of radio spins and still do even on Pandora and stuff.

anything that sounds like a polyphonic ringtone from the late 90s-Early just sounds real cheap. Mostly because the classic boom bap sound is at least gotten from sample of live intruments. But songs like "If I Could Go" Angie Martinez or "Wanksta" just sound cheap now. Yuck

Co sign that heavy latin sound that was forced. Outside of tracks like Still Not A Player or What Yall Really Want its cringe worthy

I think a lot of that Reggae-infused hip hop didn't age too well either...at least not those Buju Bantan features

Some of those R&B songs that had those single rap verses from the early 2000's, where the rapper would just kinda come in mid-song didn't age well either. Songs like, Stutter (Remix), Superwoman, Feeling So Good Remix, Top of the World, etc.

It was like...here's a poppish R&B song that you can sorta play on the radio, and just when you start getting into the song, BOOM, in comes the rapper, digressing the whole point of the song. You had a poppish song about getting with a girl, and then the rapper comes in and starts rapping about his cars and bitches and he fucks 'em and leaves 'em. It used to totally throw the point of the song out of sync.

It's still going on today, but at least now it's more of a collabo than a solitary verse thrown in either at the beginning or 2/3 of the way through the song, and at least the rappers have learned to stay on topic (sort of).

^^ Gotta agree. Basically any song that tried to milk hip hop's buying power at the time. Even then & especially now i respected R&B artists that didnt just randomnly throw rappers they had no chemistry with on a single & wear a jean jacket in the video to score an easy hit (Maxwell, Musiq, D'Angelo)

the reverse worked as well think Mobb Deep & 112

People say the beats are played or didn't age well, meanwhile you get songs like Ball and fucking problems which basically use some of the beats y'all say are played out. I bet if Drake or somebody used an old Neptunes beat people would say that it's hot. I hate the fact that people don't appreciate the older music like they should

thats when the trackmasters were getting it in. puffy, busta, r kelly, fat joe. All of them songs had basically the same track. It reminds me of the milli vanilli era when every hit had that soul II soul beat.

excellent point...i actually really dug the concept of trap rap during its inception if i didnt actually like the product...but its fate is kind of the fate of all black music over the past 100 or so years....

I hated most of those, especially Hola Hovito...shit is the worst song the Blueprint to me and always has been. Fabolous was guilty of a few of those too and I don't think many folks remember the original version of Puffy and Loon's "I Need A Girl" is over a damn salsa beat damn near

When everyone had those
